Mobile Legends patch notes: what changed in 2.2.16a and what the Advanced Server is testing

Kalea gets the tools to pick off targets alone, while Aulus, Hirara, Eudora and Rafaela lose some of their edge. On the test server, seven heroes and the Golden Turrets are changing, though none of it is final.

The live version of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is Patch 2.2.16a. It hit the original server, the regular version of the game where your matches are played, on October 14, 2026. It buffs Kalea and nerfs Aulus, Hirara, Eudora and Rafaela, on top of Patch 2.2.16, which opened Season 42 on September 16.

Since October 24, MOONTON has also been running Patch 2.2.28 on the Advanced Server, a separate copy of the game used to trial changes. That build adjusts Aldous, Atlas, Kagura, Kaja, Masha, Gloo and Melissa, plus the Golden Turrets. None of it is in your matches yet, and any of it can change or be dropped.

In patch notes, a buff makes a hero stronger and a nerf makes one weaker. Cooldown is how long you wait before you can use a skill again, and a Basic Attack is a hero's regular hit, the one that doesn't use a skill. When a value appears as a range, such as 14-12s, the first number applies at skill level 1 and the second at max level.

01

Kalea gets the only buff in 2.2.16a

The developers' reasoning, as summarized by MLBBHub, is that Kalea couldn't threaten the enemy backline, the marksmen and mages who fight from behind, on her own. The exact values below come from Timesaver's patch roundup, which cites Liquipedia and MLBBHub.

- Enhanced third Basic Attack: 70 (+4 per level) → 120 (+12 per level) damage. - New: 60% Movement Speed for 1 second when she absorbs a Water Zone, the pools she leaves after casting skills. - Max HP damage bonus: 8% → 14%.

By the late game that third hit does more than twice its old damage, and the Max HP bonus rewards the HP items she already buys to survive once she dives into a fight. Our item guide by role covers which ones. The burst of speed after picking up a Water Zone helps her reach the target.

For roam players, Kalea now has a better shot at finishing an isolated marksman or mage by herself. If you're on the other side, wandering away from your team near her Water Zones is more dangerous than it used to be.

Aulus heals less and his ultimate shifts toward the early game

MLBBHub says the goal was to cut Aulus's staying power while keeping his early and mid-game burst. Timesaver lists these changes:

- Passive, Attack Speed on enhanced Basic Attacks: 20% (+2% per level) → flat 20%. - Enhanced Basic Attack base damage: 135 (+15 per level) → 120 (+12 per level). - HP Regen per enhanced Basic Attack: 30 (+15% Total Physical Attack) → 15 (+20% Total Physical Attack). - Skill 1 cooldown: 14-12s → 15s at all levels. - Ultimate base damage, first four strikes: 110-270 → 150-230. - Ultimate base damage, final slash: 330-810 → 450-690, with a shorter windup on that last hit.

The two healing formulas meet at 300 Total Physical Attack, where both restore 75 HP per hit. Below that, Aulus heals less than before, and above it slightly more. His enhanced attacks also lose roughly 17% of their damage at hero level 15, along with the attack speed he used to gain each level.

If all five strikes of his ultimate land at skill level 1, he now deals 280 more base damage than before (1,050 versus 770). At max skill level he loses that same 280 (1,610 versus 1,890). Aulus keeps his early burst but brings less damage to late-game fights.

03

Hirara goes invulnerable less often

According to MLBBHub, Hirara could turn invulnerable with Skill 1, Meisen-e, too often. The patch lengthens that cooldown, while her full combo gains a little damage in the mid and late game.

- Skill 1 (Meisen-e) cooldown: 9-5.5s → 10-6.5s. - Skill 2 (Kaerazu) damage: 150-255 (+65% Extra Physical Attack) → 165-270 (+42% to +70% Extra Physical Attack).

That's one extra second before she can turn invulnerable again at every level. Extra Physical Attack is what she gains from items and emblems on top of her base stat, so Skill 2 now scales less with gear at low skill levels (42%) and a bit more at max level (70%).

04

Eudora's ultimate loses about 10% of its damage

MLBBHub describes Eudora as too oppressive in the early and mid game. The whole nerf goes to her ultimate, which deals damage at the center, at the edge and as a delayed hit.

- Center: 600-1,000 (+160% Total Magic Power) → 540-900 (+145%). - Edge: 300-500 (+100%) → 270-450 (+90%). - Delayed damage: 330-550 (+110%) → 300-500 (+100%).

Base damage and Magic Power scaling both drop by about 10%. An ultimate that used to kill a marksman or mage carrying a bit of magic defense may now leave them alive on low HP.

05

Rafaela's first two skills come back more slowly

MLBBHub says Rafaela cast so often that she dealt too much damage from range and gave her team too much support. You only feel the change once those skills are leveled up.

- Skill 1 (Light of Retribution) cooldown: 5-3s → 5s at all levels. - Skill 2 (Holy Healing) cooldown: 10.5-8.5s → 10.5-9.5s.

With Skill 1 maxed, she goes from casting it every 3 seconds to every 5, which is 40% less often. Her Skill 2 heal also comes back a second later at max rank.

06

What the Advanced Server is and how changes reach your game

The Advanced Server is a separate instance of Mobile Legends where MOONTON tests new heroes, revamps and balance changes. Per MLBBHub's guide, you start from scratch because your progress doesn't carry over, though every hero is unlocked for testing. Slots to join reopen every Thursday.

Joining from inside the game requires account level 15, ping under 100ms (your connection's round trip to the server taking less than a tenth of a second) and being in Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore or Thailand, which rules out players in the US and most of the world. The same guide says an Android beta on the TapTap app store works from any region, while iPhone users need a MOONTON invite through TestFlight, Apple's app for installing test builds.

Advanced Server builds carry higher numbers because they run ahead of the live game. Recent weeks went from 2.2.20 to 2.2.28 there while the original server stayed on 2.2.16a. MOONTON gathers data and feedback, revises, and eventually bundles the changes into an original-server patch. MLBBHub puts the gap at one to three patches, roughly two to six weeks, and notes that some content is delayed, reworked or scrapped along the way.

Patch 2.2.28 shows how that works. According to GamingonPhone, it reverts a Skill 1 buff to Aldous tested the week before, gives Masha's ultimate back damage that had been cut, and undoes a Golden Turret change that MLBBHub logged in Patch 2.2.26 on October 15.

07

What Patch 2.2.28 is testing

MLBBHub lists 2.2.28 on October 24 with six buffs, three nerfs and two adjustments. GamingonPhone later published hero numbers for the changes below. MLBBHub's count is higher than what GamingonPhone details, so this list may be incomplete.

- Aldous: Skill 1 base damage goes back to 200-450 after a trial at 300-500. In exchange, Skill 2 would have a 9.5s cooldown at all levels (currently 12-9.5s), and its damage reduction would rise from a flat 30% to 30-55%, making him sturdier in early EXP lane fights. - Atlas: his passive, Frigid Breath, would last 3 seconds instead of 5. It is the icy aura he leaves around himself whenever he casts a skill. Enemies who stay inside for more than 1.5 seconds slow down until they freeze for half a second, and Atlas gains defense while it lasts. At 3 seconds, the aura fades sooner, leaving less time to catch and freeze anyone inside. - Kagura: only the on-screen marker for Seimei Umbrella's maximum distance improves. Her power is unchanged. - Kaja: he would turn faster while Soaring with Skill 2, and both his enhanced Basic Attacks and Skill 2 hits on minions would extend the flight. - Masha: her passive's Physical Attack bonus would drop from 1% to 0.5% of Extra Physical Attack, and the per-level bonus from 0.3% to 0.2% per level. Her ultimate would go back to 300-600 base damage from the 240-480 that was tested. - Gloo: Skill 1's explosion would deal 30 more damage at every level, 200-350 → 230-380. - Melissa: the share of damage Skill 2 transfers to Muddles, and the share of attack effects Muddles inherits, would go from 52% to 50-60%.

GamingonPhone says the Masha nerf targets her sustained late-game damage. She currently tops our latest tier list review with a 60.92% win rate. Melissa's change would hand back part of what she lost. Per Liquipedia, Patch 2.2.16 cut the damage transfer from 60% to 52% and the inherited attack effects from 80% to 52%. If the test ships as is, both would reach 60% at max level, fully restoring the transfer but leaving the inherited effects well short of 80%.

Golden Turrets: what's live and what's being tested

Each lane has three turrets: outer, inner and the base turret next to your crystal. Golden Turrets have been on the original server since September 28 (server time) as part of the 2026 annual map change.

The 2.2.16 notes, as recorded by Liquipedia and MLBBHub, say destroying any turret now pays far more gold to the whole team, and that inner and base turrets gained HP. Neither source publishes the exact values.

On the Advanced Server, Patch 2.2.26 tried removing that extra HP and giving every turret much higher Hybrid Defense, which protects against both physical and magic damage, for the first 12 minutes. Patch 2.2.28 throws that out and retunes the existing values instead. Unlike Liquipedia and MLBBHub, GamingonPhone gives the before-and-after numbers.

- Base turret extra HP: 1,000 → 2,000. - Team gold from an outer turret: 100 → 90. - Team gold from an inner turret: 140 → 120.

If those numbers ship, taking the outer and inner turret in one lane would pay 210 team gold instead of 240, and the last turret in each lane would need another 1,000 damage to fall. Early turrets would be worth a little less and closing out a game would take longer, so a team that's behind would get more time to defend.

How to read a patch note

Every line reads old value → new value, and with ranges it pays to check both ends. Going from 5-3s to "5s at all levels" changes nothing at skill level 1 but is a nerf at max level, which is exactly what happened to Rafaela.

Percentages tell you how an effect scales with your stats. "+145% Total Magic Power" means each point of Magic Power, counting base stats, items and emblems, adds 1.45 damage. "Extra Physical Attack" counts only what you gain above your base attack.

The same change can be a buff at one stage and a nerf at another, as with Aulus and Hirara this time, so compare the low-level and max-level figures before deciding whether your hero came out ahead. Lines that mention Brawl only affect that mode.

A letter after the version number, as in 2.2.16a, marks a follow-up adjustment to the same build. Recent ones have been small, and 2.2.16a touched five heroes, against the 25 changes MLBBHub counts in 2.2.16.

10

Where to track each hero's changes and their impact

Every INSERT FUTURE hero page, such as Aulus's, has a change history listing original-server patches with a link to each note. To see whether a change actually moved a hero, the tier list shows win rate, pick rate and ban rate over the last seven days, filterable by rank.

Because that window mixes matches from before and after a patch, a nerf takes a few days to show fully. Aulus led our October 13 review at 59.93% and had fallen to 53.55% by the October 28 update, with 2.2.16a already live.
