Apple opens iPhone Duo preorders today, October 16, at 5 a.m. Pacific, or 8 a.m. Eastern. Availability begins October 23. The foldable switches between a compact outer display and a larger inner screen for content and multitasking, with Siri AI starting in English in beta.
The larger display changes how apps fit together
iPhone Duo’s outer screen measures about 5.4 inches, while Apple’s technical notes give the inner display a 7.58-inch diagonal. iOS 27 changes orientation and active displays as the device folds or turns. Split View supports two apps side by side.
StandBy can turn either display into a clock, widget hub or photo frame without requiring the phone to charge. The A20 Pro places it in the same chip generation as iPhone 18 Pro, while the hinge and dual-battery design introduce different physical trade-offs. We have not tested its battery life or long-term hinge durability.

Siri AI starts with language and regional limits
Apple says Siri AI is rolling out in beta with iOS 27, initially in English. Its release notes exclude initial availability in the EU on iOS, so US and European buyers should not assume identical launch features. That restriction is separate from the broader list of Apple Intelligence languages.
The Spanish product page confirms October 23 availability there, with preorders at 2 p.m. mainland Spain time on October 16. Cross-border shopping does not establish access to a region-restricted feature.

Cases, charging and delivery dates
Apple’s new Folio adds a kickstand, while its other case uses a two-part protective design. Both support MagSafe, Qi2 25W and Qi-certified chargers. Our Qi2 versus MagSafe guide explains what to check before reusing an existing charger.
The preorder opening and the release date are separate milestones. Apple.com and the Apple Store app will show the delivery or pickup estimate for the selected configuration. Promotional carrier credits, leases and trade-in allowances have separate conditions and should not be read as the phone’s unconditional retail price.
