iPhone 18, 18 Pro and Pro Max price, release date and everything we know

Apple is expected to reveal the Pro models in September, while the standard iPhone 18 may move to 2027. Price could be the most painful change.

When the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max may launch

Buying a new iPhone used to follow an easy calendar. Apple revealed it in September, opened pre-orders a few days later and placed it in stores the following Friday. The iPhone 18 family may split that schedule in two for the first time.

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to be announced on September 8 or 9, 2026. Apple has not issued a public invitation, so there is no official date. If its usual pattern holds, pre-orders could begin on September 11 or 12, followed by availability on Friday, September 18. These are probable dates, not confirmation.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo offers the strongest clue behind the split. His supply-chain checks place three A20 Pro models in the second half of 2026, the two Pro phones and Apple's foldable. The more affordable A20 devices are assigned to the first half of 2027. That group would include the standard iPhone 18.

Our advice is simple. Wait until September if you want a Pro. Do not expect to buy the standard iPhone 18 this autumn. And if your current phone works, do not pay for a reservation based on a render. Apple has not confirmed any of these devices.

Price is the most uncomfortable part of the rumor

Apple currently sells the iPhone 17 Pro from €1,319 and the Pro Max from €1,469 in Spain. Those are the only official reference points. No iPhone 18 price has been announced or leaked through a reliable store listing.

The serious warning comes from Counterpoint Research. Its estimate says parts for the 1TB iPhone 18 Pro Max may cost close to $300 more than those in its predecessor. Memory, storage and the move to a 2nm process account for most of the increase. Preserving the same margin would require a $250 to $350 retail rise, although Counterpoint itself expects Apple to spread the hit across storage tiers and absorb some of it.

Using those figures, our Spain estimate puts the iPhone 18 Pro between €1,469 and €1,619, and the iPhone 18 Pro Max between €1,619 and €1,769. This is not a leak. It is an estimate built from today's prices and Counterpoint's component analysis. The standard phone could remain near a €959 entry price when it arrives in 2027, but that figure has even less support today.

A rise would fit a business increasingly supported by services and Apple Intelligence. It also helps explain why Apple may keep an older phone on sale rather than offer a cheaper iPhone 18 in September. Meanwhile, the company remains tied to OpenAI while both fight over the future of AI devices, and it is testing more personal services through ChatGPT Health and Apple Health.

What may change in the iPhone 18 Pro models

The most consistent rumor is an A20 Pro built on a 2nm process. Kuo has pointed to that node since 2025 and TSMC already has 2nm on its roadmap. A smaller node does not guarantee a specific speed gain, but it lets Apple add transistors and pursue better efficiency. The latter matters more to users, a powerful phone that can sustain performance without running hot or draining its battery.

Both Pro models would keep 12GB of memory, according to Kuo, while the standard iPhone 18 would move to 9GB in 2027. Apple's own C2 modem is also expected, along with a smaller Dynamic Island and some Face ID components beneath the display. Reports disagree about how much will actually be hidden, so the front cutout is not dead yet.

The main camera may gain a variable aperture. Instead of receiving the same amount of light at all times, the lens could adjust its opening to control exposure and depth of field. It is easy to describe and impossible to judge without real photographs. Some reports assign it to both Pro models, while others reserve it for the Pro Max.

Colors have generated two waves of rumors. Burgundy, brown and purple appeared first. More recent dummy units from Sonny Dickson show dark cherry, black or dark gray, silver and light blue. Dummies often get dimensions right for case makers, but finishes can change dramatically when Apple moves from plastic to metal.

The standard iPhone 18 may move to 2027

The split makes the family name slightly misleading. September 2026 may bring the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, while the iPhone 18 would arrive in the first half of 2027 alongside a possible iPhone 18e. Kuo expects both to use the A20 with 9GB of memory, an increase intended to give iOS 27 and Apple Intelligence more room.

Apple would gain two launch windows and stop the standard model from competing for attention with the Pro phones and its first foldable. Buyers would instead choose between paying more in September, buying a discounted iPhone 17 or waiting several months. This is not a technical upgrade. It is a new way to arrange the till.

We will update this guide when Apple announces its event and replace every estimate with official prices and dates. Until then, the most durable conclusion is straightforward. The Pro phones point to September 2026, the standard iPhone 18 to 2027, and nobody should treat color concepts as photographs of the final product.
