Silent Hill: Townfall patch 1.4.0 eases The Weight encounters and stealth

The Weight’s grabs no longer kill instantly on Story Mode or Normal. Konami also reduces enemy sensitivity to noise and adds a reference manual for a puzzle.

Silent Hill: Townfall’s October 8 update changes The Weight’s grab attacks from instant death to heavy damage on Story Mode and Normal. The official patch 1.4.0 notes cover PS5, Steam and Epic Games Store and do not extend that change to every difficulty.

Screen Burn has also revised how enemies search for and pursue the player.

What changes in stealth and melee combat

According to Konami’s notes, The Weight should spend less time waiting around objectives and revisiting the same search location, and track the player less aggressively. This changes how the pursuit works rather than removing the encounters.

Other enemies become less sensitive to gunfire, running and the sound of entering hiding places. Successful melee hits are less likely to trigger an immediate counterattack. Enemies also stop attempting grabs while the player actively blocks with a melee weapon, with The Weight explicitly excluded from that last change.

Puzzle help without the answers

A collectible manual has been added for the Remote Systems Control console, allowing quick reference while operating it. The Aux Line pipe layout has also been revised for clarity. Those changes make the available information easier to use without requiring this report to spoil the solutions.

Check the menu version, not just the patch title

Konami labels the announcement patch 1.4.0 but asks players to check for v1.5.154194 in the lower-right corner of the main menu. That is the installed version identifier specified by the publisher after updating.

The notes also claim improved frame pacing and fewer streaming stutters, without providing an independent measurement or percentage improvement. Our FPS and frametime explainer explains why an average frame-rate figure alone cannot establish whether those pauses have improved.
