Silent Hill: Townfall launches September 24 on PS5. PlayStation lists the Standard Edition at $49.99 in the United States and the Deluxe Edition at $59.99. Deluxe adds an application containing a digital art book and soundtrack, an alternate outfit and early access beginning September 22. The complete game and story are also included in Standard.
This is a standalone entry set on the Scottish island of St. Amelia in 1996. Simon Ordell returns to 'put things right' and finds empty streets, a fog-covered shoreline and signals that should not be there. Finishing Silent Hill 2 or Silent Hill f is not required.
The first full-length first-person Silent Hill
Townfall is the series' first full-length game designed entirely around a first-person view. Screen Burn Interactive uses that perspective to restrict vision in enclosed spaces and make sound matter. There are melee weapons and firearms, but PlayStation describes an experience where avoiding a threat can be smarter than confronting it.
It is not a continuous shooter. Ammunition and tools are limited, while player actions can lead to different endings. The developers emphasize tension built from detail, sound and anticipation rather than a chain of jump scares.
INSERT FUTURE has not tested the final release, so this is not a review or purchase recommendation. Readers looking for genre context can use our gaming dictionary to distinguish survival horror, psychological horror and other labels that are often blurred together.

The CRTV replaces the radio and solves puzzles
Silent Hill's radio warned of nearby monsters through static. Townfall turns that idea into the CRTV, a pocket television that tunes unstable signals. It detects danger, reveals fragments of story and supports puzzles. This is not a map that marks every objective. Players need to adjust its frequency and interpret what appears.
DualSense features try to put that object in the player's hands. Motion controls rotate the CRTV to tune weak signals, haptics communicate approaching footsteps and adaptive triggers respond to weapons. The game also supports 3D Audio and PS5 Pro enhancements, although its audio design does not require the most expensive console.
Preorders add two cosmetic CRTV appearances. They do not unlock exclusive puzzles. Anyone who prefers to wait can keep the $49.99 until performance and length reviews arrive. Our first Townfall report preserves the original announcement and confirmed platforms.
