NVIDIA’s October DLSS 5 model debuts in NBA 2K27 today, October 16. The company calls the model twice as fast as September’s version, while advertising game frame-rate gains of up to 1.4x. Faster processing in one rendering stage does not mean the entire game runs at twice the frame rate.
The model uses less GPU time and memory
NVIDIA reports a 24% smaller model, at roughly 118 million parameters, and 20% lower 4K VRAM use. It describes comparable visual fidelity with half the GPU overhead for that model. These are manufacturer figures, not INSERT FUTURE benchmarks.
DLSS 5’s neural-rendering stage generates lighting and material detail from game-frame information alongside the rest of the graphics workload. Our report on DLSS 5’s original NBA 2K27 launch explains the original integration and why its FPS figures need context.

Game support follows separate dates
NBA 2K27 receives the faster model on October 16 for GeForce RTX 50 Series, RTX Spark laptops and GeForce NOW. NVIDIA says future DLSS 5 games will use the updated model by default.
Hogwarts Legacy adds DLSS 5 on November 5. Where Winds Meet is scheduled for late November, without an exact date. RTX Remix’s new tools arrive October 23, giving modders integration options rather than automatically upgrading every older game.

Frame Generation Preset C has different requirements
A separate NVIDIA app beta introduces Preset C, a faster Frame Generation mode for RTX 40, RTX 50 and RTX Spark. It replaces part of that pipeline with a lighter algorithm and makes minor image-quality trade-offs. RTX 40 support for this feature does not establish official DLSS 5 neural-rendering support.
Our DLSS, FSR and PSSR explainer separates reconstruction from frame generation. Features announced together can still perform different tasks and require different hardware.
