Nintendo shipped 2.67 million Switch 2 consoles from July through September, 41% fewer than the 4.54 million it shipped in the same quarter of 2025. The numbers come from the earnings materials Nintendo released on Nov. 5. Nintendo counts units delivered to retailers, not consoles bought by players.
Across the April-to-September half, Switch 2 shipments fell 37.4% to 6.49 million, bringing the lifetime total to 26.35 million. The comparison is a tough one, because July through September 2025 was the first full quarter after the console's June 5 launch. Nintendo's results do not explain the drop, saying only that new releases kept many people buying the system.
What Nintendo's president said about price
Switch 2 went from $449.99 to $499.99 on Sept. 1. After the results, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa told reporters the company is not considering a second increase because it has secured enough memory to keep building the console for the foreseeable future, according to wire reports. He gave no timeframe, and the earnings documents say nothing about pricing.
The memory bill
Nintendo expects higher component prices, memory chips above all, plus tariffs to add about ¥100 billion to its costs in the fiscal year ending March 2027. At the company's own assumed rate of 150 yen per dollar, that is roughly $667 million. Nintendo still kept the full-year outlook it set in May: ¥2.05 trillion in net sales (about $13.7 billion), down 11.4%, and ¥370 billion in operating profit (what it earns from its business before taxes and financial items), up 2.7%. For the half, revenue slipped 12.1% to ¥966 billion while operating profit jumped 49.1% to ¥216.5 billion. Part of that jump came from about $300 million in refunded US tariffs, which Nintendo says it had absorbed rather than passing on to customers.

Ten million more consoles by March
The 16.5 million Switch 2 forecast for the fiscal year stands. With 6.49 million already shipped, Nintendo needs another 10.01 million between October and March. That is more than the 9.5 million it shipped in the same stretch a year earlier, on the way to 19.86 million for that fiscal year. The window covers Black Friday and the holidays, so hitting the target means outselling last year's holiday season.
Switch 2 software rose 18.8% in the half to 24.49 million units, and Nintendo expects 60 million for the year. The original Switch added 1.27 million units in the half, down 32.7%.
