The most anticipated games of 2026 and 2027: dates, platforms and Game Pass

Our most anticipated games

The most anticipated games of 2026 and 2027 already occupy a large part of our calendar. We have left dozens of promising releases out to focus on the ones that generate the most conversation in our newsroom, the games we want to play on day one and the projects capable of defining the months ahead.

The list follows release order and includes every confirmed platform plus the current Game Pass status. Whenever a publisher has yet to announce an exact date or subscription release, we say so instead of turning a possibility into a promise. Keep this guide close: we will update it as dates move and new details arrive.

Every date reflects the release schedule announced for Spain as of August 27, 2026. A guide looking this far ahead is always alive, though: if a game moves, adds a platform or joins Game Pass, the change will be reflected here.

The order is not a ranking either. September comes before October and 2026 before 2027. Within each date, we explain how that game earned its place, which is the part no automated calendar can decide.

September 3, 2026: The Blood of Dawnwalker

Date: September 3, 2026. Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Game Pass: not announced.

Rebel Wolves opens the calendar with a vampire RPG built around a medieval world, a day-and-night cycle and a campaign where time forces hard choices. Coen has 30 days to save his family, and every quest consumes part of that allowance. It already earned a place among the best games of September 2026, but its blend of freedom, consequences and supernatural hunger deserves its own spot in this diary.

September 4, 2026: Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Date: September 4, 2026. Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Game Pass: not announced.

Capcom brings Onimusha back to the front line with Miyamoto Musashi, a Kyoto corrupted by the Genma and combat where deflecting a blade looks as important as swinging one. Its violence has weight, and its art direction understands the pleasure of crossing a beautiful place while everything tries to kill you. After years spent asking for the series to return, we want it to make us feel unstoppable without ever letting us become invulnerable.

September 15, 2026: Marvel's Wolverine

Date: September 15, 2026. Platform: PS5. Game Pass: no.

Insomniac trades webs for adamantium claws and builds a tighter, more physical and more aggressive adventure around Logan. Our guide to Marvel's Wolverine and its PS5 release date covers the characters and story. It is also an important test for PlayStation's Marvel universe: Wolverine needs his own identity, wounds that matter and fights that never feel like Spider-Man wearing a different suit.

September 17, 2026: Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave

Date: September 17, 2026. Platform: Nintendo Switch 2. Game Pass: no.

Fire Emblem returns with tactical battles, character bonds and another set of decisions capable of wrecking a perfect campaign. Its time-rewind mechanic is like carrying an eraser into a war: it fixes a mistake but never learns for you. Our Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave guide explains that idea. We expect demanding maps, memorable units and enough reasons to start another run as soon as the first one ends.

September 24, 2026: Silent Hill: Townfall

Date: September 24, 2026. Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Game Pass: not announced.

The fog drifts into St. Amelia for a first-person Silent Hill about memory, guilt and a coastal town that looks profoundly unwell. Its smaller scale could strengthen a story more interested in unsettling us than explaining itself. Our guide to everything confirmed for Silent Hill: Townfall covers its structure and platforms in depth. One reason is enough to mark the date here: hearing a radio crackle frightens us again.

September 24, 2026: CONTROL Resonant

Date: September 24, 2026. Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a Mac version later. Game Pass: not announced.

Remedy leaves the Oldest House's safe corridors and takes its new paranormal disaster into Manhattan. CONTROL Resonant expands the scale, keeps the impossible architecture and once again treats throwing half an office at an enemy as a reasonable answer. We are particularly interested in how it balances an entire city against the original game's concentrated mystery. If every street corner feels like an anomaly waiting to wake up, September will end in style.

October 6, 2026: Gears of War: E-Day

Date: October 6, 2026. Platforms: Xbox Series X|S and PC. Game Pass: day one.

Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago return to the moment when Sera stopped making sense. E-Day brings back the terror of the Locust and promises closer, heavier and more desperate combat than the latest entries. Its date also celebrates 20 years of Gears of War.

Nostalgia helps, but it cannot do all the work. We want the chainsaw to sound dangerous again, a dark room to command respect and the friendship between Marcus and Dom to carry more than a succession of spectacular firefights.

October 23, 2026: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4

Date: October 23, 2026. Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. Game Pass: unconfirmed.

Infinity Ward takes the war to Korea, New York, Paris and Mumbai while Captain Price pursues a battle of his own from the shadows. Modern Warfare 4 combines a campaign, multiplayer and DMZ, while taking on the technical challenge of a Switch 2 release. The Modern Warfare 4 beta lets us track its progress. Game Pass has one accurate answer for now: Activision has not confirmed it.

October 29, 2026: Phantom Blade Zero

Date: October 29, 2026. Platforms: PS5 and PC. Game Pass: not announced.

S-Game blends wuxia, machinery and the furious rhythm of Hong Kong action cinema in an RPG where Soul has 66 days to live. Every new fight looks designed to make us rewind the trailer and ask how something that fast can possibly be controlled. Our look at Phantom Blade Zero gameplay and pre-orders explains its systems in greater detail. Here is the short version: steel, rain and choreography that refuses to stand still.

November 19, 2026: Grand Theft Auto VI

Date: November 19, 2026. Platforms: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Game Pass: not announced.

Lucia Caminos, Jason Duval and Leonida turn GTA VI into the release around which the entire industry seems to revolve. According to Rockstar, it will be the studio's most ambitious open world, with a Vice City saturated with life and a couple forced to trust each other after a job goes wrong.

The wait makes more sense with our guide to GTA 6: date, map, characters, price and everything confirmed. My personal favourite changes every time I read this list, but GTA VI always ends up at its centre. We have already cleared November to get lost there.

December 11, 2026: Path of Exile 2

Date: December 11, 2026 for version 1.0. Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Game Pass: not announced; it becomes free-to-play.

After a long early-access period, Path of Exile 2 reaches its complete version and opens its gates as a free game. Grinding Gear Games must organise enormous depth without sanding it down: classes, gems, skill trees and enough loot to absorb hundreds of hours. Choosing a build is like unfolding the metro map of an impossible city. That possibility fascinates us, beginning with something simple and ending one night by comparing percentages that looked like another language only hours earlier.

Early 2027: Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember

Date: early 2027. Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. Game Pass: day one.

Team Ninja returns to the Three Kingdoms with combat that demands reading an opponent, deflecting at the exact instant and accepting that impatience costs half a health bar. Wings of Ember promises new weapons, larger areas and another chance to turn a humiliating defeat into a clean victory. Wo Long already understood the precise moment when our hands learn before our heads. Its sequel only needs to multiply that feeling without losing precision.

February 18, 2027: Persona 4 Revival

Date: February 18, 2027. Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Game Pass: day one.

Returning to Inaba means revisiting the fog, the Midnight Channel and the group of friends who turned a rural murder into one of Atlus' most beloved stories. Persona 4 Revival updates the presentation and systems for a new generation. Our biggest question concerns what it chooses to preserve: the slow calendar, small afternoons and that feeling of missing a digital place long after discovering the killer.

Spring 2027: Final Fantasy VII Revelation

Date: spring 2027. Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. Game Pass: not announced.

The Remake trilogy reaches the point where every theory, change and promise needs an answer. Final Fantasy VII Revelation launches simultaneously across all platforms and concludes Cloud's journey during the original game's 30th anniversary.

According to director Naoki Hamaguchi, its accumulated stories and emotions will reach «the most satisfying culmination». He made that promise in Square Enix's official announcement, setting an exceptionally high bar. We have already gathered Revelation's date, platforms, weapons and new details, and now we want to see a familiar story feel dangerous again.

Spring 2027: Spyro: A Realm Beyond

Date: spring 2027. Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. Game Pass: day one.

Spyro returns with a new realm, colourful platforming and the kind of movement that should feel good before we even find an objective. A Realm Beyond can continue what Reignited Trilogy reminded millions of players: gliding, charging and exploring can support an entire adventure when the world rewards curiosity. Among so many dark epics, we are grateful to save a space for a purple dragon and a landscape we genuinely want to visit.

2027: Senua

Date: 2027, exact date unconfirmed. Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Game Pass: day one.

Ninja Theory turns the Hellblade universe into a broader action adventure with multiple enemies, different weapons, exploration and large bosses. According to studio head Dom Matthews, the central idea is «tactical choice». Senua still carries an intimacy that few blockbusters sustain, although she now has more room to decide how each danger should be approached. That balance between the personal perspective of her earlier journeys and much greater freedom fascinates us.

2027: Mega Man: Dual Override

Date: 2027, exact date unconfirmed. Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. Game Pass: not announced.

Capcom celebrates Mega Man's 40th anniversary with an entry that keeps two-dimensional platforming and adds Custom Chips, Override suits and new Robot Masters. The first Mega Man: Dual Override gameplay left us with a question about Proto Man and one welcome certainty: a precise jump and a charged shot still carry an energy that is difficult to replace. It is a perfect way to close this list, probably by dying on another bed of spikes.
