Release date and platforms

Rockstar is now taking pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI with a firm launch date. It arrives on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Preloading opens at local midnight on 12 November, one week earlier, for digital purchases and for boxed-version codes that reach their owners in time.

There is no announced PC edition or official PC release window. PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch 2 versions have not been confirmed either. There are no other platforms.

The next official appointment is Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, scheduled for 27 August at 3pm ET, 9pm in mainland Spain, with an initial Netflix broadcast.

Price and editions

The Standard Edition costs €79.99 in Spain and the Ultimate Edition is €99.99. Ultimate adds vehicles, weapons, workshops, clothing and businesses distributed through Jason and Lucia's chapters, while the upgrade is also sold separately for €20, so you do not need to decide everything when you pre-order.

Rockstar's physical version costs €79.99 but contains no disc. It is the game equivalent of buying a movie box and finding a download entitlement inside, the package can sit on a shelf, but the game cannot be lent or resold. Orders and purchases made before 20 November include the Vintage Vice City Pack, while the month of GTA+ is reserved for digital purchases. Pre-ordering secures the extras and the preload, but it does not lower the price or provide early access. If those bonuses do not matter to you, waiting until launch costs nothing essential.

Jason, Lucia and the cast

GTA 6 follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos after an apparently easy score or robbery goes wrong and pulls them into a conspiracy stretching across Leonida. Rockstar describes their bond in plain terms. They are “forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.” Jason grew up around grifters, joined the Army and ended up working for local drug runners in the Keys, while Lucia leaves prison determined to secure the better life her mother imagined for her back in Liberty City.

The official cast now includes Jason's paranoid friend Cal Hampton, veteran smuggler Brian Heder, businessman Boobie Ike, producer Dre'Quan Priest, bank robber Raul Bautista and rap duo Real Dimez, formed by Bae-Luxe and Roxy. These are no longer anonymous faces from a trailer, although Rockstar has not explained how much playable involvement each supporting character will have.

Vice City and Leonida

GTA 6 returns to Vice City, but the city is only one part of the fictional state of Leonida. Rockstar's official site currently tours six areas. They are Vice City, Leonida Keys, the Grassrivers wetlands, former industrial coast Port Gellhorn, sugar town Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park in the north.

Rockstar has not published the map's dimensions, the number of accessible interiors or an official size comparison with GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2. According to Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser in the 2023 announcement, the project aims to “push the limits of what’s possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world experiences.” At INSERT FUTURE, we think Leonida's variety can move it closer to that promise than a merely larger Vice City. What remains unconfirmed

Rockstar has yet to detail an online mode, cross-play between PS5 and Xbox Series, campaign length, download size or a PC edition. Nor has it promised that mechanics seen in the recent leaks will reach the finished game unchanged; its statement authenticated the videos, not every claim attached to them.

Until the 27 August presentation ends, the useful answer is compact. GTA 6 starts at €79.99, launches on 19 November for PS5 and Xbox Series, and still has no PC announcement.
