Phantom Blade Zero shows 11 minutes of gameplay and opens pre-orders: the game is finished and lands October 29

S-Game's hugely anticipated hack-and-slash is finished and is dropping a new eleven-minute trailer —with story, characters, combat and 'something unexpected'— while opening pre-orders. The date is August 11 in the US afternoon, the small hours of the 12th in Spain, ahead of its October 29 launch.

Eleven minutes of gameplay and pre-orders: the date is the early hours of the 12th

S-Game has dropped the bomb its fans had waited years for: Phantom Blade Zero is finished, has «gone gold», and to celebrate it's showing a new trailer of no less than eleven minutes. It airs on August 11 at 7 PM Pacific time —which is the small hours of the 12th in Spain, around four in the morning— and pre-orders open at the same time on PS5 and PC.

And eleven minutes is a lot of footage: enough to show combat in depth, story, new characters and, in the studio's own words, «something unexpected». With the game finished and a firm October 29 date, this is the moment Phantom Blade Zero goes from eternal promise to a launch counted in days.

What Phantom Blade Zero is (and why it's been on everyone's lips for years)

If it rings a bell but you're not sure, here are the basics. Phantom Blade Zero is a wuxia action hack-and-slash —what the West calls «kung-fu punk»— from Chinese studio S-Game, and ever since it stole a PlayStation showcase in 2023 it's become one of the most anticipated action games out there. Watch out for something the studio keeps repeating: it's not a soulslike, however much it looks like one. Its combat is about speed, combos and swapping weapons on the fly, closer to frenzy than to souls-style patience.

You play as Soul, a former assassin for The Order left with a curse and 66 days to live, so the clock is ticking from minute one. The campaign runs about 20-30 hours and includes side quests that change the story. It is, in short, an action heavyweight with an Eastern look, in the vein of other Asian-set titles we follow.

Why it matters and what to expect on the 12th

That a game this anticipated arrives finished and with eleven minutes of footage is no small thing: it means S-Game has nothing left to hide and wants to flex before it starts selling. It had slipped from September to late October for polish, so this trailer is its definitive calling card.

Phantom Blade Zero also joins a jam-packed end of 2026, with GTA 6 just around the corner and half the calendar fighting for your wallet. We'll be watching: the moment the trailer drops and pre-orders open, in the early hours of the 12th, we'll tell you what it shows and how much it costs. Set an alarm, or wait for us to sum it up over coffee.
