All three big digital stores are running Halloween sales this year, and they end on different days. Steam closes first and Xbox last:
- Steam Scream V Fest runs through Monday, Nov. 2, at 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. ET).
- PlayStation Store's Halloween promotion runs through Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 11:59 p.m. PT.
- Xbox's Shocktober Sale runs through Thursday, Nov. 5, at 1:59 a.m. PT (4:59 a.m. ET).
When each sale ends
Steam's horror festival started Monday, Oct. 26. Valve lists the dates in its official Steam events calendar for developers, and its sales start and end at 10 a.m. Pacific. Some games run on their own schedule: Capcom's Resident Evil discounts last through Nov. 3 and Inscryption's through Nov. 9. Each store page shows its own "Offer ends" date.
On PlayStation Store, every game we checked in the Halloween promotion carries the same end time, 07:59 UTC on Nov. 5, which is 11:59 p.m. Pacific on Wednesday, Nov. 4.
Xbox's Shocktober Sale began Oct. 22. Microsoft Store's catalog lists its discounts as ending at 09:59 UTC on Nov. 5, which is 1:59 a.m. Pacific. That makes it the last of the three to end, almost three days after Steam's.
How to find the deals
On Steam, the festival has its own sale page with price and genre filters. Wishlisted games trigger an email when they go on sale, and each store page shows the discount and the day it ends.
On PlayStation Store, open the Deals tab on your PS5 or on the web and look for the Halloween collection. Check every edition before you pay, because the sale doesn't discount them evenly. The Silent Hill 2 Deluxe Edition is $31.99 while the standard edition stays at $69.99, and the Dead Space Deluxe Edition drops to $15.99 while the standard version is still $69.99. In both cases the premium version is now the cheaper one.
On Xbox, go to Deals in the console store or check the Shocktober Sale page on xbox.com, which lists each game's sale price and discount.
Refund rules differ by store. Steam refunds games within 14 days if you've played less than two hours, as covered in our guide to Steam refunds. PlayStation and Xbox have their own conditions, explained in how to get a refund on PS Store, eShop and Xbox.

Horror games worth buying on sale
These are the U.S. store prices we checked on Oct. 30. We only list the stores where each game is actually discounted, and the store page wins if a price changes before the sale ends.
- Resident Evil Requiem is $48.99 on Steam, PS5 and Xbox, down 30% from $69.99. Capcom's February 2026 release is the newest game here.
- Silent Hill 2 is $31.99 on Steam (60% off), and the Deluxe Edition costs the same on PS5 and Xbox. The 2024 remake of the 2001 classic is psychological horror in a fog-bound town, for players who'd rather feel dread than shoot things.
- Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Village are $9.99 each, and Resident Evil 2 is $7.99, on both Steam and PlayStation. That's three full games for under $30, with more action in 4 and Village and more survival in 2.
- Alan Wake 2 is $17.99 on Xbox (70% off). On PC it isn't sold on Steam, so Xbox is the place to get it on sale.
- The Dead Space Deluxe Edition is $15.99 on PS5, down 80% from $79.99. The 2023 remake puts an engineer up against monsters on a mining ship. It isn't discounted on Steam.
- Cronos: The New Dawn is $29.99 on Steam and PS5 (50% off). Bloober Team, the studio behind the Silent Hill 2 remake, released this sci-fi survival horror game in 2025.
- Little Nightmares III is $19.99 on Steam and PlayStation (50% off). It's a puzzle platformer with two protagonists that you can play in online co-op.
- Alien: Isolation is $9.99 on Steam (75% off). You spend the whole game hiding from a single alien you can't kill.
- Amnesia: The Bunker is $4.99 on Steam (80% off), the cheapest pick here. It puts you in a World War I bunker with a monster that hunts by sound.
