Most of this year's Halloween events are already live. Fortnite, Dead by Daylight, Overwatch, Apex Legends and Roblox all started theirs in October, and they wrap up between October 31 and November 3. Pokémon GO and Sea of Thieves join on Tuesday, October 27. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has two Halloween modes on the way but no date yet.

Dates come from what each studio had announced as of October 23. When a detail comes from a news outlet or the game's wiki, we say so, and where a publisher gives no time, we give only the day. US clocks fall back on November 1, so check the time zone on anything that closes after that.

  • Fortnite (Fortnitemares): live since October 1, with quests counting until October 31.
  • Overwatch (Mystery Madness): October 6 to November 2.
  • Dead by Daylight (Haunted by Daylight): October 13 to November 3.
  • Apex Legends (Blood Pact): October 13 to November 3.
  • Roblox (The Hollow): October 22 to November 2.
  • Sea of Thieves: community weekend October 23 to 26, then the Festival of the Damned from October 27.
  • Pokémon GO: October 27 to November 5, in two parts.
  • Call of Duty: Possession and Infected arrive in Modern Warfare 4 before Season 1, date unannounced.

Fortnite: Fortnitemares and the free Jack-A-Nape outfit

Fortnitemares kicked off on October 1 with update 42.30. Dexerto's breakdown of Epic's roadmap lists two new spots on the map: Nightmare Neighborhood, where Freddy Krueger waits as a boss, and a Five Nights at Freddy's pizzeria. Horde Rush is running, and Reload brought back its Nightmare Island on October 8.

The main free reward is the Jack-A-Nape outfit, which takes 26 completed Fortnitemares quests by October 31. New quests drop every Thursday across Battle Royale, Reload and Horde Rush, with smaller rewards along the way at 2, 5, 8, 12, 16, 20 and 23 quests. Separately, a hidden quest unlocks Jimothy, a raccoon Sidekick, the first time you extract a Dumpster Dive Sprite at an Extraction Site.

Epic hasn't published a closing time. Dexerto puts the end of the event on November 1, but quests only count toward Jack-A-Nape through October 31. If you're short on Sprites or XP, our list of Fortnite codes that hand out XP and Sprites can help.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and Warzone

Modern Warfare 4 launched on October 23, and its Halloween content comes as two modes. In its maps and modes rundown, Activision says Possession, a new party mode, and a returning Infected will land in time for Halloween, ahead of Season 1. There's no date yet. If you're still on the fence about the game, here's how its campaign is rating on Steam.

Warzone has been haunted since September 17. Black Ops 7 Season 06, The Haunting, turned the Resurgence map into Haunted Hollow and added Giant Infected, a 64-player limited-time mode. Its DOOM Event Pass includes a free track. Activision hasn't said when that content goes away. It will most likely last until MW4 Season 1 reaches Warzone, bringing changes such as the toggle that hides older games' skins.

Pokémon GO: a two-part Halloween

Niantic runs Halloween in two parts, and every time it lists is local, so it starts at 10 a.m. wherever you play. Part 1 runs from Tuesday, October 27, at 10 a.m. to Sunday, November 1, at 10 a.m. It debuts Pikachu in a cap and cape, Zubat in a top hat and Sinistea with a bow, all of which show up in the wild or in one-star raids and can be shiny. Costumed Duskull, Piplup and Drifblim appear as well.

Part 2 runs from November 1 at 10 a.m. to Thursday, November 5, at 8 p.m. Its headline is the shiny debut of Greavard, alongside Litwick, a costumed Rowlet and Gengar. For the first time, Mega Sableye can be raised to Super Max Mega Level, which gives it an extra charged attack.

Every player gets the GO Pass: Halloween 2026 for free on October 27, and it runs until November 5 at 8 p.m. The free track includes encounters, Candy, Rare Candy and Ultra Balls. Reaching level 10 doubles catch Candy, and level 20 doubles Stardust. The Deluxe version costs $7.99, or $9.99 with ten levels included, triples those bonuses and adds avatar clothing. Any rewards you unlock expire on November 7 at 8 p.m.

Dead by Daylight: Haunted by Daylight

Haunted by Daylight began on October 13 and lasts three weeks, according to Behaviour's October 1 broadcast as reported by Bleeding Cool. The official game wiki lists November 3 as the end date. The Void Realm is gone this year. Instead, its rifts become portals that teleport both the Killer and Survivors around the map.

There are three free ways to earn rewards. A daily gift of 25,000 to 50,000 Bloodpoints, the currency you spend to level up characters, lands in the main menu inbox and resets at 15:00 UTC (11 a.m. ET until US clocks change on November 1). Logging in once also grants 100 Dark Trinkets. Event quests pay out more Dark Trinkets, which you spend on the Tricks and Treats collection: outfits for Shane Wiigwaas and The Hillbilly, plus shirts and masks.

Overwatch: Mystery Madness through November 2

Blizzard pitches Overwatch Season 5 as its Halloween season. The official announcement details Mystery Madness: Graveyard Games, live from October 6 to November 2. You spawn as a random hero and pick up random powers each time you die. Challenges earn Offerings that you pledge to Ashe, Moira or Winston, and whoever collects the most gets summoned into the mode, until the roster reaches 20 heroes in the final week.

A new Event Pass arrives each week with a milestone reward at the end. Blizzard's rewards graphic adds up to one Legendary skin, 13 Basic and 3 Epic loot boxes, four name cards, four sprays, four player icons, a weapon charm, eight voice lines and a title. The Tech Witches skin collection is available from October 9 to 26, and Team Drives, a competitive group mode, returns from October 29 to November 1.

Apex Legends: Blood Pact

Blood Pact runs from October 13 to November 3 and gives Kings Canyon a spooky makeover. Its Wildcard mode has you pledge to the Beasts or the Demons, and in-match challenges earn faction Wild Cards. EA's announcement doesn't spell out any free rewards. The event store sells Legend skins, an R-99 skin and Apex Packs.

Roblox: The Hollow

The Hollow is Roblox's platform-wide Halloween event. It opened on October 22, and Roblox's announcement, as reported by GamesBeat, adds a new monster every day for nine days. They come from 99 Nights in the Forest, Doors, Dandy's World, Piggy, Scary Shawarma Kiosk, Animal Hospital, Demonology, The Mimic and Warden, and they chase players through a map that keeps getting more twisted.

A live finale starts on the morning of October 31, and rewards can be claimed until noon PST on November 2. Free items come from quests, while Roblox Plus subscribers also get a profile frame and background. The event is open to players aged 9 and up in most regions, which is worth knowing if you're also reading up on how Roblox safety settings work.

Sea of Thieves: community weekend and the Festival of the Damned

Rare laid out its plans in an official video on October 19. A community weekend runs from October 23 to 26 with Twitch Drops, the return of Tricksters and Treaters with two hats to earn, and voyages that unlock a pumpkin-carving emote. The Festival of the Damned starts on Tuesday, October 27. Rare hasn't given an end date.

During the festival, logging in gets you a candy bucket emote that triggers random effects. If the community hands out enough sweets, everyone unlocks a face paint. A daily Skull of Destiny voyage makes it easier to activate the Fort of the Damned, and you can summon Soulflame skeletons at the fort. Defeating 20 of them earns a seasonal lantern.

Games without official Halloween dates

As of October 23, we haven't found an official announcement with Halloween dates for Destiny 2, Minecraft, Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, Animal Crossing or Mobile Legends. The Festival of the Lost dates circulating for Destiny 2 come from community trackers, not Bungie. Rocket League announced a Five Nights at Freddy's crossover on October 22, but we haven't been able to confirm its dates.

If you'd rather spend the 31st with a scary campaign than a live event, start with our picks for the best horror games on PS5 and PC.
