The filter changes only your view
Activision’s Operator Skin toggle is coming to Warzone with Modern Warfare 4 Season 1. When enabled, it replaces other players’ operators and skins from earlier Call of Duty games with MW4 operators. That applies to opponents and squadmates, both in the lobby and in matches. Older weapons will also remain available, but lose Gunsmith support and previous custom loadouts.
You will still see your own equipped operator, even if it comes from an older game. The switch defaults to off and affects only your view, so teammates can see different appearances for the same character.
This is a filter for Warzone’s MW4 chapter, rather than a feature announced across every Call of Duty mode. It also leaves MW4 operators visible, so it should not be read as a promise to exclude every future crossover.
Older weapons survive with different limits
Operators, skins and weapon blueprints from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 will carry forward. Activision corrected its original announcement to remove a mistaken claim that legacy weapon camos would also be available.
Legacy weapons remain accessible in the loadout menu’s Legacy tab, but Gunsmith and previous custom loadouts will not be supported for those weapons or blueprints. Each legacy base weapon will have an unlockable five-attachment version in the Armory. Blueprints retain their existing attachment setups.
Keeping content therefore does not mean every previous customization option survives. That is also separate from moving progress between platforms, as our crossplay, cross-save and cross-progression explainer sets out.

Season 1 is a separate date from MW4’s release
Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23, according to its official campaign announcement. The filter is tied to Season 1, and the toggle announcement does not give a specific calendar date for that season. October 23 should not be treated as a confirmed filter launch date.
Current Warzone Season 6 patch notes describe Haunted Hollow and that update’s own changes. Black Ops 7 Season 6 and the future MW4 Season 1 are different releases.
For PC preparation, our Modern Warfare 4 requirements coverage collects the confirmed hardware information. The cosmetic filter announcement provides no performance measurements or evidence of an FPS boost.
