GTA IV is $5.99 and the GTA trilogy $19.79 on Steam until GTA 6 launches

Rockstar has two of its older Grand Theft Auto games on sale on Steam through Nov. 19, the day Grand Theft Auto VI comes out on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Grand Theft Auto IV: The Complete Edition is down to $5.99 from $19.99, a 70% cut. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, which bundles GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas, is $19.79 instead of $59.99, or 67% off. The trilogy's Steam page lists Nov. 19 as the last day of the deal, and GTA IV's page shows the same date.

Grand Theft Auto V isn't included. The version Steam sells now, GTA V Enhanced, stays at $29.99. That price also covers the older GTA V Legacy release and GTA Online's Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack.

GTA IV Complete Edition for $5.99

It's the easiest pick of the sale. For under six bucks you get the 2008 game, with Niko Bellic stepping off the boat in Liberty City, plus both expansions: The Lost and Damned, told from inside a biker gang, and The Ballad of Gay Tony, which follows a nightclub owner's right-hand man. Steam users rate it "Very Positive."

There's no multiplayer, though. Rockstar shut it off in 2020 when it stripped out Games for Windows Live, the defunct Microsoft online service the mode relied on, and relaunched the game as the Complete Edition. Like every GTA on Steam, it also needs a Rockstar Games account linked to your Steam account.

The Definitive Edition trilogy is cheaper, with baggage

At $19.79 you get the three PS2-era games remade in 2021 with new lighting, higher-resolution textures and GTA V-style controls and aiming. Steam only sells them together, since all three store pages point to the same bundle, and the original PC versions can no longer be bought there.

The trilogy shipped in November 2021 with enough visual and technical bugs that Rockstar apologized and promised fixes, and it didn't reach Steam until January 2023. GTA III still sits at "Mixed" on Steam, with 66% positive English-language reviews, while Vice City and San Andreas hover around 80%.

If you're unsure how it will run on your PC, Steam refunds purchases made within the last 14 days with under two hours of playtime. That's enough to find out, and our Steam refund guide walks through it.

GTA V stays at $29.99

If you want GTA Online or Michael, Franklin and Trevor's story, you'll pay full price for GTA V Enhanced, the 2025 edition. It adds ray tracing, which renders light and reflections more realistically, and supports DLSS and FSR, Nvidia's and AMD's upscaling tools that draw the image at a lower resolution and scale it up for smoother play. It also loads faster from an SSD, a solid-state drive that reads data far quicker than a traditional hard drive. Players who already own the older PC version can move their story progress and GTA Online characters over once. GTA 6 has no PC version

The sale ends on GTA 6's launch day, but the new game is only announced for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar hasn't given a PC date or official PC requirements, so this sale is a chance to catch up on the series on PC, not to get your rig ready for GTA 6.
