SUGO arrives in October and Autumn Ring returns in December

Polyphony Digital is splitting Spec IV into two free updates. October brings Japan's Sportsland SUGO, while December restores Autumn Ring, a circuit that first appeared in the original Gran Turismo.

The studio will add 12 cars across both releases, but has not identified them or divided the total between the two months. Exact dates and download sizes are also unconfirmed.

Online drifting, shuffled races and new goals

Online Drift Trials will score control, precision and style. Shuffle Races randomise conditions so drivers must adapt instead of repeating one car-and-track combination. Spec IV also adds Driving Experiences, further progression, an expanded Car Viewer and a Concierge intended to guide car purchases.

Sony will explain more during the Singapore round of the Gran Turismo World Series on October 3. The 12-car list and the Concierge's exact behaviour remain open until then.

Family Mode is more than another difficulty option

Family Mode arrives in December as an entry point for people with different levels of driving experience. Polyphony has not detailed its assists or rules, so it should not yet be described as a children's mode, split-screen feature or any specific assisted-control system. The official promise is simply to lower the barrier to sharing the game.

Spec IV begins the series' 30th-anniversary celebration ahead of 2027. Readers can also browse September's biggest releases and our guide to enabling 120Hz and VRR on PS5.
