The complete story is now available
Fallen Tear: The Ascension reached version 1.0 on September 23, following its March Early Access launch. For players who were waiting, the important change is that Hira’s story now reaches its conclusion, with multiple endings. Philippine developer Winter Crew Studios says the release also adds ten major regions, five main bosses and sixteen optional bosses.
The game combines an interconnected 2D world with the character relationships of a JRPG. Hira is a young protagonist destined to confront ancient gods, but finding a new movement ability is not his only way forward. The allies he befriends also influence combat and exploration.
Fated Bonds make relationships part of exploration
Fated Bonds are allies whose abilities help in fights and traversal. Version 1.0 adds eleven of them. That connection is the interesting part of this genre combination: meeting someone can change what the player can do in the world, rather than simply introduce another side story.
The developer’s description ties increasing trust to more effective talents. Players can also customize the Temple of Oras hub and populate it with the allies they meet. Returning to a familiar place can therefore serve a purpose beyond testing a newly acquired jump.
New abilities remain a strong reason to revisit a Metroidvania map. Metroid Ravenous offers another variation by making enemies into resources. Fallen Tear emphasizes companionship and story. That gives it a distinct premise, not an automatic advantage over other approaches.

Price, language support and what has changed
The standard US price on Steam is $24.99 before temporary discounts. English voice acting is supported. Readers planning to play in Spanish should wait for confirmation: the launch announcement places that translation after release without a firm date, and the store does not list it as available. As we noted when covering Expeditions: Samurai’s Early Access plans, availability and localization can follow different schedules.
The press announcement and storefront differ on some of the other supported languages, so an announced localization should not be treated as installed support. This is also not our review of the finished game. The expansion figures and description of the completed story come from the developer’s release information.
