Dispatch earned a 9 out of 10 from us when we played it, and it remains one of our easiest narrative-game recommendations. A retail release containing the actual game fits a story worth preserving, lending and discovering without tying every copy to a single-use key.
The timing makes that choice unusually visible. Rockstar is shipping GTA 6 without a disc, while Sony will stop manufacturing discs for all new PlayStation releases in January 2028.
Inside the box
The standard Deluxe Edition costs $49.99 and contains the full game, a digital artbook with more than 100 pages, four English-language digital comics totalling over 45 pages, a soundtrack download, a 16-page printed SDN onboarding guide and a double-sided Mecha Man poster.
The $59.99 SteelBook has the same contents in custom metal packaging, although AdHoc warns that manufacturing could push it slightly behind the standard release.

The Switch 2 cartridge
AdHoc says the package includes the original Nintendo Switch game and a Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack. It still puts the game on a cartridge, which is the important ownership distinction, but it is not being advertised as a standalone native Switch 2 cart.
The game will be dubbed into Spanish, while the comics and artbook will remain available in English only.
Our 9 out of 10
We played Dispatch without publishing a review at the time, so manufacturing one now as if the credits had just rolled would be dishonest. The judgement has held up, and it is still an easy recommendation for anyone who wants a funny, character-led story in which choices carry forward.
Former superhero Robert Robertson III dispatches a team of rehabilitated villains from an office while rebuilding his Mecha Man suit. Emergency assignments and timed dialogue can both change the group's loyalties, and the episodic construction is impossible to miss. Cliffhangers and credits give Aaron Paul, Laura Bailey and Jeffrey Wright room to build a proper ensemble, even if some cuts reveal the television seams. Dispatch won three BAFTAs in 2026 for animation, audio and Wright's supporting performance. We would happily take a sequel or television adaptation next.

Buying should include a choice
A disc or cartridge can be lent, gifted, resold and preserved without asking an account for permission. As we explained in our report on GTA 6's regional code restrictions, Rockstar's own support page confirms that its retail box contains only a download code. Sony has gone further by setting January 2028 as the end of discs for new PlayStation games. In that market, AdHoc is not selling nostalgia. It is charging for functions that other boxes have discarded, which is the more consumer-friendly choice.
Jackie Cole, who wrote AdHoc Studio's announcement, says some things are better with scuffs, folds and fingerprints. 1000xRESIST is also receiving PS5 and Switch 2 boxes, proof that smaller publishers can still treat physical media as a product rather than a costume for a download. Dispatch preorders are open now. At $49.99, the standard edition makes a considerably stronger case for itself than an empty case ever could.
