Crimson Desert is no longer simply called Crimson Desert. Pearl Abyss used Gamescom to relaunch it as Crimson Desert Enhanced, but the new name does not mean paying again because this is the free 2.00.00 update for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Mac. Existing owners only need to install the patch and newcomers can buy the game at 20% off until September 9 across every platform.
Enhanced gathers the near-weekly work Pearl Abyss has delivered since launch and tackles one of the game's most debated areas, the way its enormous story is told. The new trailer compresses the pitch into one minute.
More than the same game under a new name
The main campaign gains new cutscenes, conversations, items, memories and additional context for its bosses. In practical terms, this is not a separate region bolted onto Pywel. It revisits Kliff's journey so scenes connect more clearly and characters that once felt thin have room to breathe. That should make a first playthrough easier to follow while giving returning players a tangible reason to begin again.
Skill progression changes too. The new Abyssal Bond shares resources among playable characters whenever one learns an ability through Abyssal Artefacts. That means less repeated work, since advancing Kliff should no longer leave Damiane and Oongka so far behind when the story hands control to them. That said, only a fresh playthrough will show how much the campaign's actual pace has improved.
Five new dubs have arrived
Enhanced adds full voice-over support for German, French, Spanish, Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese, while Arabic receives interface text and subtitles. In a dialogue-heavy RPG packed with names and factions, dubbing is more than a settings-menu extra because it lets players follow a conversation without splitting their attention between subtitles and the fight unfolding around them. The package also includes every update released since launch.
The first 20% sale runs on every platform through September 9. Our read is that instead of selling a remaster six months later, Pearl Abyss is drawing a line under the point at which the game has become a more coherent version of itself. Enhanced looks like the sensible entry point for anyone who waited, while existing owners get the better news because none of it costs extra. And if September was not crowded enough, The Blood of Dawnwalker's launch trailer has just added another RPG to the fight.
