Release date, platforms and price
Pearl Abyss will release Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown on October 15, 2026, at 3pm PT / 6pm ET in the United States. This is the game's first paid downloadable expansion, launching on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The announced US price is $24.99. Pre-orders include two outfits: the Charter's Diving Set for Kliff and Oongka, and the Charter's Light Diving Set for Damiane.

A personal ship, islands and underwater ruins
The expansion opens the ocean surrounding Pywel. Players can command their own ship, reach islands outside the familiar routes and dive for treasure, sunken ruins and secrets. The reveal does not frame the sea as a loading corridor: it shows sailing, dedicated diving equipment and threats that move combat between land and water.
That is the feature most likely to change the rhythm of Crimson Desert Enhanced. After months of improvements to the base game, collected in our guide to Crimson Desert's biggest updates, Charting the Unknown expands the playable geography rather than merely adding quests.

Housing, businesses and three character paths
An upgraded housing mode lets players build and customise a home in greater detail. Facilities can also be rented and managed to earn money, while relationships with Pywel's residents grow. These everyday systems could give purpose to wealth and downtime between battles, although Pearl Abyss has not yet explained their limits or economy.
New stories follow Kliff, Oongka and Damiane along separate paths. Pearl Abyss teases an ominous desert presence, a political conflict, a journey beyond time and an ancient secret beneath the waves. New land and sea enemies are confirmed, but the publisher has not disclosed length, recommended level or the requirements for starting the DLC.

Why we want to review it on PC
INSERT FUTURE completed Crimson Desert on Steam several months ago. That gives us a finished campaign against which to judge the expansion rather than relying on a demo. Sailing, island density, underwater performance, story integration and the practical value of housing will anchor a full review.
The decisive question is whether the ocean creates decisions and discoveries or merely adds distance between markers. We will also test how combat scales for an advanced save and how the expansion performs on PC. We plan to request review access from Pearl Abyss and will disclose the copy conditions when coverage begins.
