In September 2024, barely four months after launch, Fellow Traveller said players would not stop asking for a physical copy of 1000xRESIST. “We're taking it seriously,” the publisher replied. Now the box has a date.

Fangamer will release the PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 editions on *February 12, 2027*, more than two years after that promise. Preorders are open through participating retailers.

What comes with the physical edition

Both versions include a 24-page booklet, an art card and a foldout poster. There is no new chapter, DLC or exclusive playable content attached, so existing players are buying a modest collector's package, whereas newcomers get the game and three printed keepsakes without a mountain of plastic around them.

That feels like the right scale. It is the gaming equivalent of keeping a ticket and programme from a play that stayed with you. Neither changes what you saw, but together they turn the memory into something you can pull from a drawer.

Price, disc and cartridge: what remains unclear

Meridiem's announcement does not list a price or say whether the Switch 2 version carries the full game on a cartridge or uses a download code. It does not explicitly confirm a PS5 disc either. That matters in 2026, especially after seeing physical boxes ship with nothing but a download code.

I would not preorder blind just yet. We have a date, platforms and extras, but we still need to know what we are buying and how much it will cost. Fangamer or retailers should answer both before February 12.

An open preorder does not demand an immediate decision, since there is ample time between August 18 and February 12 for the distributor to publish the price and show the back of both boxes.

Why this game earned a second life

1000xRESIST is a science-fiction narrative adventure about memory, identity and a lie that has survived for a thousand years. You are Watcher, one of the cloned Sisters serving the ALLMOTHER, but Fixer forces you to see the past differently and obedience begins to crack. The game moves between third-person exploration, visual-novel conversations, first-person scenes and time shifts, lasts more than ten hours and contains roughly 15,000 voiced lines.

Creative director Remy Siu said during development that the finished game was “way beyond anything that I originally imagined.” You can feel it. The game shifts camera, era and storytelling form just as you think you understand its rules.

It launched on PC and the original Switch on May 9, 2024, passed 25,000 sales in four months through word of mouth and reached PS5, Xbox Series and Game Pass on November 4, 2025. It later won a Peabody Award and earned Hugo and Nebula nominations. This is not a blockbuster, but it is a small game refusing to disappear.

The physical edition is late, although it arrives in time to introduce the game to another wave of players. If you want the Switch 2 copy, wait for Fangamer to confirm what is actually inside the box. Meanwhile, we keep our guide to the best Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 games up to date.
