Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve has reached one million units worldwide faster than any earlier entry, according to Bandai Namco. The publisher announced the milestone October 9, after the October 2 general release and an earlier access period.
That early-access period matters. The million cannot be described as sales accumulated only across seven days. Bandai Namco is comparing the time taken to reach this milestone, rather than claiming the new game has outsold every predecessor’s lifetime total.
Campaign and cross-platform multiplayer
Bandai Namco Aces’ game is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Steam for PC. Its campaign follows aerial combat in a fictional wartime world, with competitive and cooperative multiplayer alongside it.
The publisher confirms cross-play and a virtual Air Base that can host up to 100 players. That number describes a social lobby used to customize characters and organize sorties, rather than establishing a simultaneous 100-aircraft battle.
Our Ace Combat 8 campaign and multiplayer coverage explains the game’s structure. As our cross-play guide notes, playing together across systems does not by itself establish shared saves or licenses between stores.

What the milestone establishes
The figure supports an especially fast commercial start for the franchise, according to its publisher. The announcement does not break sales down by platform or territory and provides no revenue figures, so the contribution of PS5, Xbox or PC cannot be calculated from it.
Project Aces has released commemorative wallpapers for the milestone.
