What you need to play
Xbox and TCL say the Xbox app will reach selected smart TVs over the coming months. Games run on a remote server, the television receives compressed video and sends controller input back, removing the need for a console.

TCL has not published a model list
The app will roll out through a software update in more than 25 countries, but neither company has identified compatible model numbers, years or operating systems. Owning a TCL television with 4K, Bluetooth or Google TV does not by itself guarantee support.
TCL says eligibility and markets will be announced in phases. Buyers should wait for that list before choosing a television around this feature.
The console disappears, the cloud allowance does not
Streaming removes the cost and space of an Xbox console, but it does not make play free. From November, Game Pass Ultimate includes 15 cloud hours per month, Premium 10 and Essential five. Extra time will be sold separately at an unannounced price.
