How many hours each plan includes
Xbox says Game Pass cloud gaming will stop being unlimited in November 2026. Ultimate will include 15 hours per month, Premium 10 and Essential five. Microsoft expects the cap to affect about four per cent of subscribers, but anyone using cloud streaming as a primary way to play could exhaust Ultimate's allowance in four long sessions.
The meter covers time streamed from Xbox servers. It does not apply to games installed on a console or PC, nor does it change the catalogue attached to each tier. Our Game Pass guide separates each plan's library from this new cloud allowance.

What happens when the allowance runs out
Xbox will sell additional hours through its store after the allowance is exhausted. It has not revealed prices, bundle sizes or whether purchased time will expire, and says options will vary by market. Those missing details determine whether the cap is merely a guardrail for occasional users or a second bill for people who rely on streaming.
The company is also preparing a way to use Xbox Cloud Gaming without Game Pass. It has not said whether this will be a separate subscription, hourly payment or a restricted free tier. The cost of preserving today's usage cannot be calculated until those prices arrive.

How to tell whether 15 hours is enough
Ultimate works out at roughly 30 minutes a day in a 30-day month. Two hours every Friday and Saturday becomes 16 hours over four weeks, already requiring extra time. Someone who uses the cloud only to sample a game before installing it is more likely to remain inside the allowance.
The cap does not change internet data use. Our guide to cloud gaming speed and data use calculates what an hour can consume at different stream qualities.
