Samsung Odyssey 2027 reaches 1,100Hz: meet the new G9, G8, G7 and G6

Samsung has used Gamescom 2026 to introduce four monitors from its 2027 Odyssey range, and they do not chase the same player: three OLED models prioritise scale, contrast or resolution, while G6 pushes refresh rates into competitive territory.

That said, Hun Lee, executive vice president of Samsung's Visual Display business, describes the strategy as offering players "more choices for competitive play, cinematic gaming and versatile setups". The specification sheet backs up that variety with four very different displays.

• Odyssey OLED G9: 49 inches, DQHD resolution, 360Hz and a 720Hz Dual HD mode.
• Odyssey OLED G8: 32 inches, 4K at 360Hz, QHD at 520Hz or Full HD at 680Hz.
• Odyssey OLED G7: 42 inches, 1000R curved 4K OLED panel, 16:9 aspect ratio and 165Hz.
• Odyssey G6: 27 inches, Fast IPS panel, QHD at 600Hz or HD at 1,100Hz.

The small print behind 1,100Hz

Odyssey G6 reaches 1,100Hz in HD but runs at 600Hz in its native QHD resolution; OLED G9 moves from DQHD at 360Hz to Dual HD at 720Hz, while G8 offers three combinations ending with Full HD at 680Hz.

Buying the fastest monitor without generating those frames is like opening six motorway lanes for a bicycle. Before paying for the largest number, check the performance your hardware can actually deliver, because neither the panel nor the cable can invent frames the game and graphics card do not produce.

From what we have seen so far, resolution and format matter more than the record figure. G9's 49-inch DQHD canvas, G8's flexible 4K panel or G7's 42-inch curved OLED could change an ordinary game far more than moving from 600Hz to 1,100Hz.

Pricing and availability in Spain

That said, OLED G9 and G8 use fifth-generation QD-OLED panels with Penta Tandem technology. G8 also adds DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20, 98W USB-C charging and KVM support, while G7 aims for a more cinematic experience through its 1000R curve. These are Samsung's specifications rather than independent measurements, so brightness, response and panel management still need proper testing.

Samsung has not announced prices or firm Spanish release dates. It only confirms a worldwide launch for G6 during the second half of 2026, with the rest of the schedule varying by market, an important omission for products presented as its 2027 range.

Samsung also expects HDR10+ GAMING support to cover more than 20 AAA games during the first half of 2027 after integrating the technology into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The sensible purchase will still depend on how many frames your PC can render, how much desk space is available and, once Samsung says so, what each display costs.
