Pokémon UNITE is going offline for good. The Pokémon Company and TiMi Studio Group will end service on March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC, which is 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT) on Monday, March 22, in the US. The shutdown covers the Nintendo Switch version and the iOS and Android apps, and the official notice says nobody will be able to log in or play matches after that.
Spending has already stopped. As of 1 a.m. ET on October 27, the game no longer sells Aeos gems, its premium currency, and no longer accepts new UNITE Club memberships, the monthly subscription that hands out bonuses. Automatic renewals for UNITE Club are switched off too.
The free-to-play MOBA, an online battle game between two teams, launched on Switch on July 21, 2021, and on phones on September 22, 2021, as Gematsu notes. The Switch version will have run for five years and eight months.
Your gems and UNITE Club
Any Aeos gems already in your account can be spent until the servers go down. An active UNITE Club membership keeps its perks until the current paid period runs out, and since renewals no longer happen, that period is the last one.
The notice does not mention refunds, including for gems that are still unspent at shutdown. The only route The Pokémon Company offers is customer support, which takes reports until the end of service. Whether the App Store, Google Play or the Nintendo eShop will refund a specific purchase depends on that store's own policy, not on this announcement.
The library update on November 12
The last major update arrives on November 12 at 04:00 UTC, which is 11 p.m. ET on November 11, according to the event notice. It adds special Unite coins that cannot be bought. You earn them from a log-in bonus and from missions such as winning a ranked match, then trade them for items that have already appeared in the game: Unite licenses that unlock Pokémon, Holowear outfits for those Pokémon and Trainer fashion.
The same update brings the library, the only part of UNITE that will keep working after shutdown. It lets you walk around the Practice Area to watch moves and Holowear effects, change your Trainer's outfit, set up Unite snapshots and browse your licenses, boost emblems, achievements and tournament results. Since it does not let you play against anyone, it works as a record of what you earned and falls short of the offline mode we argued for in our piece on what should survive a server shutdown.
The library only works if its data finishes an initial download before shutdown at 8 p.m. ET on March 22. That happens automatically when you play or first open the feature, and anything you earn later is added on top. The data generally cannot move to another device, may be unrecoverable if it is deleted after shutdown, and gets no support once service ends.

Tokyo tournament still on
Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo is still happening. Online qualifiers start on Saturday, December 5, 2026, and the in-person final for up to 32 teams was tentatively set for late March 2027 in July's championship announcement. The shutdown notice does not explain how a late-March final fits with servers that close on March 23 UTC.
The standalone event replaced UNITE's place at the 2027 Pokémon World Championships, a change Dexerto and Pocket Tactics reported in July. The 2026 UNITE Championship Series had offered more than $1 million in prizes.

What to do before March 22
Open the game after November 12 on the device you plan to keep, so the library download lands there. If you play on both Switch and a phone, the company does not promise the data will carry over.
If you still have Aeos gems, spend them before 8 p.m. ET on March 22, because no refund has been announced. The company also advises finishing any boost emblem combining and held item upgrades before then, since the library will only let you look at them.
UNITE joins Rainbow Six Mobile, which Ubisoft will shut down on January 15, 2027, among the mobile games going dark in the coming months. In Washington, Representative Ritchie Torres of New York has floated a bill to keep purchased games working after servers shut down, but it has no text yet.
