GTA 6's map: what we know about Leonida and Vice City, and the huge map the community is already building

Rockstar hasn't shown the official map yet, but we already know GTA 6 takes us to the state of Leonida, with Vice City at its heart. Meanwhile, fans have spent months rebuilding it pixel by pixel from the trailers, and their interactive map is already on version 13, with hundreds of points marked.

Leonida: the state that holds everything

Forget a single city: GTA 6 takes place in the fictional state of Leonida, Rockstar's take on Florida, and a lot fits inside it. Its heart is Vice City, the saga's own Miami we hadn't returned to since 2002, but the state stretches far beyond asphalt and neon. The trailers have shown swamps, endless beaches, rural areas and wild nature, and everything points to the biggest, most detailed map the studio has ever made.

Among the areas already hinted at are names like Mount Kalaga National Park, for mountain routes and lost roads; the swamplands, with wildlife, boats and knee-deep mud; and Port Gellhorn, more industrial and portside. The mix is classic Rockstar: a big city that soaks up everything and a huge belt of countryside, water and road around it.

What's confirmed versus what's still smoke

Time to be honest, because Rockstar is a vault and you have to separate the shown from the imagined. Confirmed by the trailers is the frame — Leonida, Vice City, its Florida energy with beach, nightlife and skyscrapers — and a handful of recognisable locations. The rest, and it's plenty, still lacks an official stamp: the exact map size, how many cities there are, the neighbourhood names and how much you'll be able to roam from day one.

Be wary of any 'full map leak' floating around, because until Rockstar publishes its own, it's all loose pieces. If you want the rest of the game's hard facts — date, price, platforms — we have them sorted in our guide to everything we know about GTA 6.

The map the community is already drawing on its own

And here's the loveliest part of the wait. With no official map, fans have decided to build it themselves: there's an interactive map of Leonida pieced together by analysing trailers, screenshots, promotional images and older material, frame by frame. The project has been running since March 2025, is already on its version 13 and holds hundreds of points of interest — roads, districts, stores, hideouts and activity zones — placed by a community that puts in more hours than many studios.

It's both a marvel of devotion and a warning: however detailed it is, it's unofficial material, and Rockstar can change roads, scale distances, move landmarks or hide entire areas before launch. Take it for what it is: the best possible draft until the original arrives.

What's left to see (and when)

The official map is one of the big cards Rockstar has yet to play, and it makes sense that it'll drop with the material still to come, starting with the hugely anticipated third trailer. GTA 6 arrives on 19 November on PS5 and Xbox Series, so the company is running out of room to keep hiding Leonida.

We'll keep this page up to date: the moment Rockstar shows new areas — or finally publishes the official map — we'll add it here. Save it, because when the real map appears, this will be the first stop to compare how much the community got right.
