Ships gain more freedom of movement
Fenris Creations says Cycle 7: Vestiges lands September 29. EVE Frontier ships will be able to strafe, roll and maneuver beyond the previous fixed flight plane. A new default Aim Flight scheme uses the mouse to steer and leaves the keyboard for acceleration and other actions.
Players can switch back to the existing WASD controls. The update also lets a pilot travel one way while aiming weapons in another. Ship fitting becomes more consequential: thrusters determine how much push the ship has, while engines affect fuel efficiency and handling. Those are design claims from the developer, not handling impressions from our own play.

Docking and drones get more physical
Ships will attach directly to structures through physical docking. Vestiges also introduces character skill progression and expands the behavior of feral drones. Fenris says drones will scan, travel, mine and salvage using systems similar to those available to players, bringing them into more direct competition for resources.
Exploration will involve finding system and intersystem signatures, new sites and environments including multi-star systems. EVE Frontier is still an in-development space survival MMO, separate from EVE Online. The most consequential change for existing players lies outside the cockpit: what happens to the current universe.

A new universe comes with the update
The developer says changes to universe generation and discovery require a universe reset when Cycle 7 begins on September 29. That is the detail existing players should notice first. The announcement confirms the reset, but does not specify which account-level items, if any, carry over. It would be misleading to promise that a particular ship, skill or structure survives.
Check the transition guidance before committing more hours to a long-term project in the current world. This is not an expansion of the same map like No Man’s Sky: Cosmos: EVE Frontier is starting a new universe. As with other games in early access, a major update can change the value of current progress as much as it adds new content.
