August's three games, and when they're yours
What we'd been reporting is confirmed: the PS Plus rumours for August were on the money. Per PlayStation's official announcement, PS Plus Essential subscribers — the most basic tier, the one you already pay to play online — have three games to claim from 4 to 31 August: Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Reloaded Edition (PS5 and PS4), the quirky Big Walk (PS5) and the acclaimed cult horror Signalis (PS4).
Remember how this works: Essential games aren't bought, they're claimed while the month lasts, and once added to your account they're yours as long as you keep the subscription active. If you were reviewing how the Essential, Extra and Premium tiers differ, these three land on the step anyone with PS Plus already has. And the supporting cast isn't weak: Signalis is a cult survival horror with retro styling that fans of classic terror adore, and Big Walk is the month's oddball, an exploration-and-puzzle adventure built to play in company.
Why Dying Light 2 is the month's signing
The main course, by far, is Techland's game. Dying Light 2 Stay Human mixes parkour and zombie survival in a huge, vertical city you move through by leaping from rooftop to rooftop: by day you explore and build, by night the infected come out to hunt and the game turns into a desperate escape. You play as Aiden Caldwell and can tackle it in four-player co-op, which is where it shines most.
The edition they're giving away, the Reloaded, is the version brought up to date after years of patches and additions, so you arrive at the game at its best rather than the one that stumbled at launch. Mark the date before it slips past you
The only real enemy here is forgetfulness, because these games expire. You have from 4 to 31 August to head into the PS Plus store and add all three to your library; if the month slips by without claiming them, they're gone. They cost zero for anyone already paying the subscription, so there's no excuse to let them pass even if you won't play them today.
