A larger peak than Team Fortress 2
Deadlock reached 262,145 concurrent Steam players, exceeding Team Fortress 2’s all-time peak of 253,997. PC Gamer reported the SteamDB figures on October 10. The milestone falls on Solomon’s debut weekend, but timing alone does not establish how much of the increase the new hero caused.
Concurrent players are people connected at the same time. They are not total accounts, daily users or copies sold. The comparison measures a busy moment for two Valve games, rather than equating the size or history of their communities.

Solomon gives each chess piece a job
Valve’s October 9 announcement introduces a hero whose abilities draw on a bishop, knight, rook and queen. The bishop advances and deals damage, the knight protects allies and supports a retreat, the rook builds up an attack, and the queen locks down enemies. His kit combines damage, protection and control.
Solomon is already available in-game. He joins the roster expansion that also brought Rat King. The pieces have different tactical purposes, so the character’s chess theme also provides a useful way to remember what each ability does.

An invitation is still required
The Steam listing continues to describe Deadlock as an early-development game with access through friend invitations. Its presence in the store does not mean anyone can immediately download it. Valve also flags temporary art and experimental gameplay.
An invitation should not require handing over your password or authentication codes. Our guide to protecting and recovering a Steam account explains what to check if a supposed invitation instead leads to an unfamiliar login page.
