Xbox has formed XP, a division covering movies, television, consumer products, brand partnerships and live experiences built around its franchises. Kayleen Walters moves from Mojang to lead it. Xbox says the division brings together capabilities previously spread across several teams.
The announcement establishes leadership and responsibility rather than unveiling a specific movie or a theme park with a location and opening date.
Four areas under one division
Xbox Pictures handles film and television adaptations. Xbox Products covers licensed merchandise. Xbox Places includes events, broadcasts, attractions and physical experiences. Xbox Partnerships works with creators, brands and other partners.
That structure describes franchise development beyond individual game releases. Xbox says XP will work with its creative studios and trusted partners to develop new ways for audiences to engage with their worlds.

Mojang gets a new leader
The separate leadership announcement names Maria Angelidou-Smith as CEO of Mojang and Minecraft starting October 19. Both she and Walters report to Asha Sharma. Xbox highlights Walters’ work at Lucasfilm, Minecraft’s licensing business and its movie production.
Minecraft already spans games, films and merchandise. Minecraft Dungeons II belongs to the playable side of that expansion. XP covers experiences surrounding franchises like Minecraft, without announcing changes to that game’s mechanics or access.

Player-facing changes need separate announcements
The immediate change is organizational. This statement does not alter Game Pass access or catalog terms. Our coverage of Xbox Cloud Gaming’s monthly hour limits concerns a separate decision affecting subscription use.
