Wo Long 2 has a release date and a demo: what you can play before September 30

Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember launches on March 4, 2027, and a public alpha is available until September 30. Koei Tecmo has confirmed both dates. If the first game's deflections and counterattacks never clicked for you, this is a chance to try the sequel before considering a preorder.

The full game's platform list is broader than the alpha's. The official website lists PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2 for release. The alpha is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, but not Switch 2.

What you can play and what it requires

The demo covers part of the Changban stage, with character creation, six weapon types and co-op for up to three players. This is an in-development build, not a slice of an already finished release. It can help you decide whether you enjoy the combat, but its performance should not be treated as a final verdict on the game.

Team NINJA's alpha conditions require an internet connection. However, the test does not require a paid console multiplayer subscription. That exception should not be assumed to apply to the full release.

A completion reward is not a full save transfer

Beating the alpha's boss earns a helmet for the full game. Team NINJA says you must retain the demo save data and use the same device and account to receive it. Keep that save after finishing if you want the item.

This confirms a completion reward, not the transfer of your entire playthrough. Demo rules differ between games, as our coverage of the Final Fantasy Resonance demo save system illustrates. For Wo Long 2, the promise to rely on is the reward and its stated requirements.

More choices before the first strike

The sequel expands the battlefield with open areas, positions to capture and terrain to exploit. In principle, an encounter can begin with choosing an approach rather than landing the first hit. The alpha gives you a chance to see how that preparation fits the pace of combat.

Find the test by searching your platform's store for the full title and Alpha Demo. The announced end date is September 30. This is a limited test, not a permanent demo that will remain available until March.
