A singer who commands beasts
Konami has revealed Rhapsody in Scarlet, a new PS5 action game set in 1920s New York. Ellie Myers comes to the city hoping to become a jazz singer and is pulled into a hidden conflict between mages. No release date, price or PC and Xbox versions have been announced.
Ellie mixes close and ranged attacks, area spells and techniques performed by Sköll, her beast companion. Players are meant to join those actions into custom combos rather than rely on one weapon.
How combat works
The reveal shows Ellie moving between spells and beast commands without breaking her attack chain. Konami has not explained whether new techniques come from equipment, a skill tree or additional companions, so the depth of that customization remains unknown. New York under Prohibition
Skyscrapers, cars, fashion and speakeasies share the city with a concealed magical district. Ellie meets Ilya Jones, leader of the Seekers, after a mafia plot draws her into a wider conspiracy. The two women disagree over freedom and order while fighting together.
Rhapsody in Scarlet can now be wishlisted on PlayStation Store. It was part of the September 3 State of Play, but the practical buying details are still missing: date, price, length, languages and any platform beyond PS5.
