Fake footage of Jason surfing shows why GTA 6 needs Trailer 3 now

AI-generated videos are inventing GTA VI mechanics, interfaces and leaks for millions of views. Rockstar still has not shown an uninterrupted gameplay sequence, and that silence has become a business.

No, Jason has not appeared surfing in GTA 6 gameplay

The video lasts only a few seconds. Jason walks into the water, climbs onto a board and rides a wave off Vice Beach like someone who has spent his entire life waiting for Rockstar to design his swimwear. It looks like a GTA VI mechanic. It is not.

The clip belongs to the latest wave of AI-generated videos circulating as alleged gameplay. In a discussion posted this Sunday, even users exhausted by AI slop admit that “the surfing one actually looks cool.” That is precisely the problem: a lie no longer has to look bad in order to be a lie.

Rockstar has not confirmed surfing. The story about a dedicated water team, a budget of up to $300 million and a system of waves, tides and hurricanes came from an unsourced account and a journalist who did not exist. Some of those features may eventually appear in the game, but today they are community wishes converted into a convincing video.

The fake gameplay factory has spent months learning how to fool us

The first major warning arrived in November 2025. An account posted several videos of characters walking around Leonida and claimed they had come from inside Rockstar. One showed Lucia on a beach during a storm, collected 8.1 million views and ended with a confession: everything had been generated with AI.

Its creator said the point was to demonstrate how easily people could be deceived. Before the reveal, the clips had been presented as genuine leaks recorded by anonymous accounts. The lesson was valid; the method involved lying until millions of people watched. GameSpot reconstructed the story after the posts were removed.

We have since seen menus filled with generated illustrations and spelling mistakes, complete robberies invented from trailer footage, chases Rockstar never released and a fake car scene crossing a bridge that took its creator months to build. Not all of it is AI: mods, 3D animation and elaborate editing produce convincing fakes too. The result is the same when the work is sold as leaked material.

How to spot a fake leak when the footage already looks real

The most useful test is not counting fingers. It is checking the origin. If gameplay does not appear on Rockstar's website, YouTube channel or official accounts, treat it as fake until a reliable source proves otherwise. A vertical, blurry, cropped recording does not become authentic because somebody writes “deleted from TikTok.”

Then inspect the interface. Fakes often mix GTA V typefaces, invented icons, maps that change between frames and meaningless text. Hands fail in motion, objects deform and streets lose continuity. These are clues rather than an infallible detector: models improve, and a patient artist can repair almost every one.

It also helps to ask what Rockstar has actually shown. The official second trailer was captured in-game on PS5 and combines gameplay with cutscenes, but Rockstar has not released an uninterrupted sequence, complete HUD or mission demonstration. Any clip unveiling ten new systems at once should create more questions than excitement.

GTA 6 Trailer 3 has a perfect opening before August 7

Take-Two reports quarterly results on Friday, August 7 at 8am Eastern. The timing is unusual because the call comes before Wall Street opens rather than after the market closes. The company will have to discuss the November 19 launch and a preorder campaign already asking for $79.99 without showing an extended gameplay demonstration.

Our prediction is that Rockstar will release GTA 6 Trailer 3 — or, better yet, a gameplay-focused video — before that meeting. No leak guarantees it. The logic comes from the calendar: fewer than four months remain, preorders are open and every silent week sends millions of views toward accounts manufacturing their own version of the game.

Rockstar can wait until after the call and continue selling. GTA VI does not need Gamescom or somebody else's stage to command attention. Trailer 3 would now do more than increase hype, however: it would give everyone a shared reference for how the game really plays. Until then, Jason will keep surfing, flying planes and entering houses that exist only inside a video generator.
