Release date and confirmed platforms
Aniplex says Fate/Extra Record will launch worldwide on January 28, 2027 for PS5 and PS4. The remake has a date again after Bandai Namco ended its publishing role in March and the development structure changed.
TYPE-MOON confirmed on August 31 that Aniplex had become the publisher. The new PlayStation announcement does not mention Nintendo Switch or Steam, which appeared in the previous plan. Their absence is not proof of cancellation, but only PS5 and PS4 currently have a worldwide date.
Combat no longer works like the 2010 game
Record replaces the original turn-based command triangle with a customizable deck. Attack cards deal damage, Guard adds shields and Skill cards trigger abilities tied to each Servant. New commands come from chests and powerful enemies in the Arena. Our gaming terms dictionary explains deck-building in plain language.

A war with 128 contestants
The story takes place inside SE.RA.PH, a digital world created by the Moon Cell supercomputer. Its 128 Masters summon historical heroes known as Servants and fight for a machine able to grant a wish. Learning an opponent's identity also reveals clues about how that Servant fights.
The remake expands the story and rebuilds its characters and presentation. A Digital Deluxe edition adds costumes, arranged music, a digital art book and soundtrack. US pricing, languages and the status of Switch and PC remain unknown after the September State of Play.
