Control Resonant has sold more than 1 million copies worldwide. Remedy Entertainment shared the milestone on October 15, 21 days after the game's September 24 digital launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and called it the fastest-selling game in the Finnish studio's 31-year history. Remedy thanked players in a post on its official Bluesky account, while CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon described the result as "a very strong start" in a statement reported by PC Gamer.
The studio hasn't broken down how many of those copies were digital, or whether preorders for the PS5 and Xbox Series X physical edition are included. That boxed version reached stores on October 15 after a last-minute delay.
Three weeks versus Alan Wake 2's two months
Alan Wake 2 held Remedy's previous record. It launched on October 27, 2023, and according to the sales update Remedy published in February 2024, it passed 1 million units by the end of that December. That took roughly two months. Control Resonant needed 21 days.
The two launches didn't have the same storefronts. Alan Wake 2 was sold on PC only through the Epic Games Store, while Control Resonant arrived on Steam and Epic from day one. Steam is the largest PC games store, and outlets including Push Square point to that gap as part of the explanation.
There's no like-for-like comparison with the original Control, which launched on August 27, 2019. Remedy has never said how long it took to sell its first million. The February 2024 update only noted that it had passed 4 million units by then.

What a million copies means for Remedy
Control Resonant is the first game of this scale that Remedy has published itself, without an outside publisher taking a share of the revenue. With the original Control, Remedy received 45% of net sales and 505 Games kept the rest. This time Annapurna Pictures co-financed and co-produced the game, according to Remedy's statement, though the studio hasn't explained how revenue is split.
A million copies is an early step. At its November 2024 capital markets day, Remedy put the budget of the project, then known as Control 2, at around EUR 50 million and said it would need to sell 3 to 4 million copies to earn the return it was targeting on that investment, as Push Square reported at the time. Against that target, the first million covers between a quarter and a third of the way.
Remedy went into the launch losing money. In the first half of 2026, revenue fell 23.1% year over year to EUR 23.3 million and the company posted an operating loss of EUR 2.9 million, according to its half-year report. Control Resonant's first sales will show up in the third-quarter business review, due November 3.
Gaudechon says Remedy will keep growing Control and Alan Wake, the two franchises it owns. Separately, the Max Payne 1 and 2 remake, which Rockstar Games will publish, remains in full production, according to the same half-year report.

Price and platforms
In the US, Control Resonant costs $59.99 on Steam, and the Digital Deluxe Edition is $69.99. It's available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, with a Mac version for Steam and the App Store planned for later in 2026.
New to the series? Our Control, DLC, FBC: Firebreak and Resonant play order separates the essentials from the optional extras. If the close-range combat is holding you back, Control Resonant's Assist Mode lets you tune incoming damage, the dodge window and other parts of the challenge individually.
