GOG is giving away Bounty Train until Monday, October 5 at 9 a.m. Eastern / 6 a.m. Pacific. The giveaway on GOG’s homepage adds Corbie Games’ base game to your library without a payment. Daedalic published this railway strategy game in 2017.
Claiming it also includes a marketing opt-in. The notice beside “Add to library” says clicking the button consents to GOG marketing communications by email, through GOG services and through its trusted partners’ services. Read that condition before taking the offer.
Sign into your GOG account, find the Bounty Train giveaway on the homepage and use its claim button if you agree to the condition. Then check that the game appears in your library. Its store page also has a “Go to giveaway” link.
Trading cargo and fighting aboard the train
In Bounty Train, earning a living means carrying goods and passengers across nineteenth-century North America. You hire a crew, maintain the locomotive and spend your resources on repairs, upgrades and carriages. GOG’s official description also offers negotiation, bribery and combat as ways to handle encounters.
An ambush puts you in charge of the crew during a fight aboard the train. The carriage view lets you position characters inside the wagons, tying the battles to the same train you have been maintaining between journeys.
The screenshots here are official press material distributed in March 2017, before release. They show the game during development rather than a current hands-on test.
Planning a route and checking the edition
The travel map lets you choose routes between cities and see their travel time and coal requirements. Picking a delivery therefore also means planning how to reach its destination and keep the locomotive supplied.
The giveaway covers Bounty Train itself. GOG lists New West and the Trainium Edition Upgrade separately. The store offers Windows and Mac versions, but its system requirements describe older operating systems. Bounty Train has offline installers on GOG and does not require the Galaxy client to play. Another current offer is System Shock 2 Remaster on Epic, free until October 8, which has its own claiming process.
