Microsoft announced Xbox Nano on October 14, opening US preorders at $49.99 ahead of a November launch. Its 3.5-ounce weight and length of just over five inches target smaller hands and portable play, with a rechargeable battery instead of replaceable cells.
A smaller option for familiar games
Nano retains 18 standard gameplay inputs and has a programmable Action Button for screenshots, recording and frequently used shortcuts. Microsoft positions it for younger players, smaller hands and travel. Those dimensions establish portability, rather than how comfortable it will feel over a long session.
It is also an option for another local player. Microsoft illustrates that use with Minecraft Dungeons II, which supports up to four people playing together in the same room.

Wireless connections and a separate charging cable
The official specification lists an internal rechargeable battery and says its required USB-C charging cable is sold separately. The documentation reviewed does not specify battery life.
Xbox Wireless connects it to Xbox consoles, while Bluetooth supports compatible Windows PCs, phones, tablets and smart TVs. Listed platforms include Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows, Android and iOS. A Bluetooth connection still requires controller-compatible games.
For TV play through the Xbox app, the controller provides the inputs while the cloud service supplies the game. Our report on Xbox Cloud Gaming’s monthly hour limits explains the quotas starting in November.

US launch offers have their own conditions
Microsoft has not specified a November release day. Its US holiday offers with select Samsung TVs and Meta Quest purchases combine Nano with two months of Game Pass Ultimate for new members. Those offers have their own qualifying purchases and are not included with every standalone controller.
