Is preordering GTA VI worth it? Almost everything on offer is yours even if you don't pay now

Rockstar offers the Vintage Vice City pack, preloading and a month of GTA+, but almost no perk requires paying now. The answer depends less on hype than on how you want to buy the game.

The preorder bonus does not actually require preordering

GTA VI can now be preordered for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S ahead of its 19 November 2026 launch. The standard edition costs $79.99 and comes with the Vintage Vice City pack.

Rockstar confirms the pack goes to every preorder and to anyone who buys before 20 November — so you can wait for reviews and still get it.

Preloading is useful, but does not demand a decision now

Digital preorders can download the game from 12 November. Preordering today or days before produces the same result.

The so-called physical edition ships a download code and no disc, so it offers no collector advantage either.

The Ultimate Edition can wait too

It adds vehicles, weapons, clothing and businesses across Jason and Lucia's story, plus a month of GTA+ in digital format.

Rockstar sells the Ultimate upgrade separately later, so you can start standard and expand if the extras prove worth it.

My answer: wait, unless you are playing at midnight no matter what

GTA VI will not sell out digitally, and no preorder perk justifies four months of advance payment. By November we should also have trailer 3 — if Rockstar repeats the GTA V pattern it lands between September and October, finally showing real missions, heists and live switching between Jason and Lucia.

Preorder only to have the expense settled for midnight, or for a genuinely good external retail perk. For everyone else, paying now does not improve the game.
