The new PS5 update brings almost nothing. Install it anyway

Sony has released version 26.05-13.60.00 for PS5 and PS5 Pro. The patch improves some system messages and screens, although the official notes are too vague to promise any real renewal.

Over a gigabyte to change very little

Sony has released system version 26.05-13.60.00 for PS5 and PS5 Pro, downloadable from settings or automatically.

The official notes fit in one sentence: improved messages and usability on some screens. No specifics about which ones.

Sony's sentence says less than some headlines promise

Retouching specific parts of the interface does not mean the whole console reads better. When outlets turn generic notes into a broad readability upgrade, the headline promises more than the patch confirms.

So far players have found no relevant hidden changes: nothing new for the welcome hub, the Store or PS5 Pro.

PS5 needs small fixes, but also a more ambitious update

Unclear messages and buried menu options are worth fixing — that is part of maintaining a console for years. But Sony has strung together several updates of discreet touch-ups.

Install it for security and stability; do not expect a different experience. Version 26.05-13.60.00 is maintenance. Necessary, yes. Exciting, rather less.
