Switch 2 and the Expansion Pack are required
Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics runs only on Switch 2 and comes with Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. The official classics list changes as games arrive, so this guide uses a dated snapshot and keeps that link for later additions.
As of September 13, 2026, the library includes Chibi-Robo!, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, F-Zero GX, Luigi’s Mansion, Pokémon XD, Soulcalibur II, Star Fox Adventures, Super Mario Strikers, Super Mario Sunshine, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and Wario World. Games are not sold individually and require an active membership.
The GameCube controller is optional
Joy-Con 2 and the Pro Controller work. Nintendo also sells a wireless GameCube controller for Switch 2 with the original layout, but it is optional and does not turn subscription games into owned copies.
The USB GameCube Controller Adapter remains compatible in TV mode. Some modern inputs need remapping, so the dedicated controller is more authentic rather than essential.

Saves and modern features
The app adds suspend points, a CRT filter and other display styles, plus button remapping. Supported titles can offer local wireless or online multiplayer, although modes and player counts depend on the individual game's listing.
Our guide to Switch 2 game and controller compatibility and our Switch 2 game selection explains which controllers and accessories survive the move. Check it before buying another pad.

Treat the library as a service
Games arrive over time and access depends on the subscription. If you want one specific title, verify that it is available in your region before paying for a year. This is a convenient way to discover GameCube games, not a permanent copy.
