The Calamity returns on February 25

Nintendo has dated Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity – Definitive Edition for February 25, 2027 on Switch 2. The official announcement confirms that it contains the full adventure and every Expansion Pass add-on.

This is not a sequel. It is the complete version of the musou that begins one hundred years before Breath of the Wild, but its time travel creates an alternative branch for Link, Zelda and the Champions.

More enemies and a new Calamity Mode

Switch 2 will place more enemies on screen while improving visuals and frame rate. Nintendo has not published exact resolution or performance targets, so there is no basis for promising 4K or 60fps yet.

The mechanical addition is Calamity Mode, with tougher and more numerous enemies and far less effective healing. It could give returning players a reason to rebuild their favourite characters. Nintendo has not said whether enemy intelligence also changes.

Your Switch save can move across

Owners of the original can transfer their save and buy the digital Switch 2 release at a discount. Nintendo points players to the eShop for further details and has not described it as a conventional Upgrade Pack.

Before committing, check Switch 2 game and controller compatibility and our Switch 2 game selection. The bundle makes most sense for someone with unfinished DLC or an existing save. New players should wait for regional pricing.

What Nintendo still needs to say

The download is 22 GB. Nintendo has not confirmed the exact performance target or whether the physical edition stores everything on the game card. GameShare supports two-player co-op with one copy, on one or two systems and either locally or through GameChat.
