Pre-orders open September 10: where each colour will be sold
Sony has unveiled two Grand Theft Auto VI limited-edition DualSense controllers, one white and one black. Both cost $84.99, pre-orders open on September 10 at 10am local time, and the controllers launch on November 19, 2026, alongside the game.
In the US, both colours will be available from PlayStation Direct. The white controller will also be sold by participating retailers, while the black edition is exclusive to PlayStation Direct in markets where the store operates. Sony says quantities are limited and exact availability may differ by country.
PlayStation has not disclosed how many units it will produce. Anyone set on the black controller will have only one US storefront to watch. The white version should be easier to find once participating retailers publish their listings.
The differences between the white and black controllers
Both versions have a colour-shifting centre that moves between blue and purple under different light, pink face-button symbols, a VI logo on the touchpad and molded palm-tree details across the grips. The white edition pairs those elements with a softer pastel finish. The black shell gives the iridescent colours much more contrast.
We prefer the black version because the pink, blue and purple details stand out more clearly. The white model matches the original PS5 and makes the surface illustrations easier to see. PlayStation has announced no other difference between them.
These are standard DualSense controllers with a custom finish. They are not DualSense Edge models, and Sony has not listed rear buttons, replaceable stick modules, extra battery life or any other hardware upgrade. The $84.99 price pays for the GTA 6 design rather than new controls.
Confirmed DualSense features in GTA 6
The official GTA 6 PlayStation page confirms haptic feedback, adaptive triggers and use of the controller's built-in speaker. It does not explain which actions will change trigger resistance or how vibration will distinguish driving, gunfire and other activities. PlayStation only says these features will respond to events across Leonida.
The limited editions arrive on the same day as the game, but they will work like any other DualSense across the PS5 library and supported devices. Choose between these controllers for the design alone: they cost the same and have the same features. The practical difference is distribution. The black version depends on PlayStation Direct stock, while the white model will also reach participating retailers.
