ChatGPT Health is here: OpenAI wants your test results to stop living in twenty tabs

The new experience connects Apple Health and compatible medical records to explain results, spot changes and prepare appointments. It starts in the United States, and the most delicate promise is not medical: it is privacy.

ChatGPT already answered health questions. Now it wants your context too

OpenAI has begun rolling out Health in ChatGPT for adults in the United States. It connects Apple Health, compatible hospital records, One Medical and Function Health so ChatGPT can compare results and track changes.

More than 300 million people already ask health questions weekly. The shift is not talking to an AI about blood work — it is not having to re-upload the same PDF every time.

Health data can appear outside the Health tab, with permission

Over 70% of health questions happened outside the dedicated space, so connected data can now surface in other chats. ChatGPT asks first, and @Health invokes it explicitly.

The uncomfortable part: the more useful it gets, the more tempting permanent access becomes — and lab results are not a gym calendar.

OpenAI promises records will not train models or target ads

Connected records and the conversations that use them are excluded from general model training and advertising, with extra encryption. Disconnecting a source deletes synced data within 30 days.

Memory can store facts from a health conversation, but not directly from connected records. Temporary chats leave no trace.

Not a doctor, but better prepared for hard questions

Health runs GPT-5.5 Instant for free users and GPT-5.6 Sol on paid plans, evaluated with hundreds of physicians. OpenAI insists it does not replace clinical judgement.

It rolls out on web and iOS for US Free, Go, Plus and Pro plans. It is not available in Spain yet. When it arrives, the question will be whether we trust it enough to show it our results.
