The best mobile gacha games in 2026, picked for how you want to play

Genshin, Wuthering Waves, Honkai, Zenless and Pokémon do not serve the same player. We pick the best for exploration, combat, turns and collecting.

1. Genshin Impact, the best world to disappear into

Genshin Impact remains the most complete recommendation if you want to open a phone and find an entire RPG inside. Version 7.0 has expanded the journey with Snezhnaya, while earlier regions contain years of exploration, stories and puzzles without demanding a roster full of five-star characters.

Its problems have grown too. The download can consume dozens of gigabytes, conversations run long and catching up looks intimidating. Even so, no rival combines open-world discovery, music and elemental combat as successfully. Our Genshin Impact 7.0 guide covers the current entry point.

2. Wuthering Waves, the best action combat

Pick Wuthering Waves when combat matters more than collecting. Dodges, parries, character swaps and bosses ask for attention, while moving through its world feels faster than in most competitors. It has reached version 3.6 in 2026 and remains available on iOS and Android alongside PC and consoles.

It is demanding on older phones and its story takes time to find a rhythm, but controlling a team well produces satisfaction that does not depend on a gold animation appearing during a pull. If you want execution before numbers, start here.

3. Honkai: Star Rail, the best turn-based choice

Honkai: Star Rail replaces reflexes with decisions. Four-character teams, weaknesses and ultimates that can interrupt the turn order make combat easy to read while leaving room to optimize months later. Turn-based play also fits a touchscreen better than moving a camera, character and five buttons simultaneously.

It is our choice for strategy without another enormous open map. Its late game eventually asks for highly specific teams, however, and the character calendar never stops trying to sell the next answer.

4. Zenless Zone Zero, the best for short sessions

Zenless Zone Zero fits a short break. Compact commissions, instant agent swaps and art direction that resembles a video store designed in the future give it a distinct identity. Its action is more accessible than Wuthering Waves, although chaining assists and counters still rewards timing.

I would not choose it to explore for hours because its spaces are smaller and more directed. I would choose it to drop in, finish one stylish job and leave before a phone game becomes a second shift.

5. Pokémon TCG Pocket, the best for collectors

Pokémon TCG Pocket understands that plenty of people want to open two packs, admire an illustration and leave. Its official site promises two free booster packs each day, while battles compress the card game into shorter matches. It lacks the map and spectacle of the games above, but creates the easiest collecting routine.

It is also the clearest example of a daily reward asking for one more. We returned to open 68 Team Rocket packs and ended up building a deck. If you want to understand the mechanism before starting, our guide explains what gacha means and why it hooks people.

Which one should you download first?

Start with Genshin Impact for its world, Wuthering Waves to master combat, Honkai: Star Rail for turn-based decisions, Zenless Zone Zero for shorter sessions and Pokémon TCG Pocket for collecting.

All five are free, and all five sell the prospect of a better result. Try one rather than starting all five, then set a budget before the next character appears. Keep the game whose combat, world or matches are enjoyable even when you are not unlocking anyone new.
