The download lands July 30, but the box waits until October
Nintendo confirmed this morning that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition reaches the eShop on Thursday, July 30. The physical edition can be pre-ordered now but will not arrive until October 1. Existing owners can buy an upgrade pack instead of purchasing the full game again.
Nintendo's Spanish listing does not yet display a price, so we are not turning the £7.99 UK figure into a made-up euro conversion. We should have the local answer when the release goes live.
Sixty frames per second addresses the original game's roughest edge
The new edition targets 4K at 60fps in TV mode on a compatible display and 1080p at 60fps in handheld play. That matters for a sprawling RPG that could become soft and visibly uneven on the original Switch.
Nintendo's official product page also promises optimized performance but does not give loading-time figures or a longer technical breakdown. The concrete commitment is those two display modes. It also earns the game another look alongside our best Nintendo games to play in 2026.
MOMO arrives from Xenosaga with two forms and her own quest
The surprise is MOMO. The Xenosaga character joins as a Rare Blade who can switch between Real and Imaginary forms in combat, changing both appearance and elemental affinity. She is playable in battle and has a dedicated Blade quest titled “The Home of the Soul.”
That cameo will create more noise than the resolution bump among fans who have spent two decades hoping for any sign of Xenosaga. It is not a remaster announcement, but Monolith Soft knows exactly what placing MOMO in a current series means. Pyra and Mythra also receive new outfits that appear in gameplay and cutscenes.

Merc Assault finally hands direct control to the Blades
Merc Assault lets players assemble a team of up to six Blades, control them directly and switch characters during missions. Building the Special gauge unlocks a finishing Art. It is a much more active use of characters who often followed a Driver's decisions in the original game.
The standalone physical version of Torna – The Golden Country also receives a free July 30 update for 4K/60fps on a TV and 1080p/60fps in handheld mode. Expansion Pass owners need the main game's Switch 2 upgrade pack to access those enhancements.
Nintendo released version 3.0.0 on July 22, but the Switch 2 material unlocks on Thursday. Then we will know the Spanish upgrade price—and whether 60fps holds when Alrest gets busy. The release now joins our 2026 games calendar.
